55 formally when the learners practice speaking, especially in Speak Up part. The points to be evaluated are fluency, creativity, expression and accuracy. The evaluation of the designed material was conducted by distributing questionnaire to five respondents. The respondents were two English lecturers at Sanata Dharma University, one English teacher at SMA N 2 Klaten and two English instructors. It was to evaluate the designed material and to gain feedback from the respondents. Then, the feedback was used to revise and to improve the material.

B. The Presentation of Speaking Material by Using Communicative Language

Teaching The second part is divided into two. The first explains the finding of the preliminary field test and the second presents the final product of the designed material.

1. Finding of the Preliminary Field Test

The preliminary field test was aimed to get evaluation or feedback on the designed material. The preliminary field was held by distributing post design questionnaire. The questionnaire was distributed to five respondents which consisted of two lecturers of English study program at Sanata Dharma University, one English teacher at SMA N 2 Klaten and two English instructors of an informal education, Speak First, in Klaten. The description of the respondents in post designed is explained in Table 4.6. The respondents stated that the designed was well developed, understandable and reader-friendly, the instructions were clear, the pictures support the learning and it focused on expression rather than grammar. It was also suitable with the demand of the immersion program. However, the respondents also stated suggestions and comments to improve the material which were stated in points below. a There were grammatical mistakes and inconsistency in using the grammar. The writer should revise it. b Since it focuses on speaking, explorative speaking activity should be provided in Speak Up part. Explorative speaking activity would give chances to the students to explore their speaking ability. It was aimed to avoid the boredom. d Giving more words or phrases in Vocabulary part would be more helpful for the learners. e The syllabus needed revision, especially in the activities, evaluation and sources. f Some explanations were ambiguous and misleading, especially in Do you know? part. g The designed material also should provide exercises related to grammar. h There should be conversation between teachers and coworkers.
