A. Data Description

The writer would like to show the following data which are taken from novelTime Flies for Ms Wiz, written by Terence Blacker and its translation is Ms Wiz Kembali ke Masa Silam which is translated by Mala Suhendra. The object is the sentences that contain modulation in the novel. The collected sentences are written in the form of data and classified them based on the theory of modulation by Vinay and Darbelnet. The possible meaning changes that may occur in modulation can be observed in the following data descriptions:

1. Negated Contrary

Negated Contrary occurs when the sentence of SL consist of double negative become positive in TL. SL: There was no gleam and sparkle to their uniforms page 110 1 TL: Seragam mereka kotor dan lusuh page 49 2. Abstract for Concrete The sentence of the SL is abstract and general, but the translator translated the text to be clearer. This is kind of modulation that occur when the SL only state a part, but the translator translated into other part in the TL. 4. Reversal of Term

Reversal of term is one of modulation types.
