answering the questions. He stated that a good learner ―learns hard from everything and learns a lot,‖ but felt that ―learning reading is boring.‖ He rarely learnt at home and never for obligatory. Christian stated that he simply ―sounds out words‖ as his only learn reading a text to solve reading problems. He said he was a good learner because he could sound out words in doing a small task. There was some inconsistency in his choice and stated preference of local text with skimming. He did not follow the technique outlined on the skimming way. He stated that he enjoyed the question by scanning technique at the beginning of the study. He showed no self-monitoring when doing task in learning process during the miscue analysis passages. He made more errors 88.2 that affected his understanding of how to answer questions correctly in March than he did in January 64.7. He also admitted, ―Sometimes I miss stuff in class.‖

4. Deki

Deki eagerly entered the classroom for this study and was a good listener throughout the lessons, even if he did not like learning reading material on a given day. He was cooperative and participated well in oral discussions. He readily began tasks after the instructions were given. Sometimes Deki would rush through doing a task so that he could be the first student to complete it. Deki showed some improvement in a few areas from January to March; his attendance in school improved and his learning process for reading ability steady improvement. He also made some progress answering some aspects of the learning outcome assessment comprehension questions. Deki learnt much local text with scanning before the start of the study. From observations made and recorded in the researcher learning log, she observed that Deki demonstrated a good level of fluency when learning reading text. He was able to extract the important information into coherent jotted notes and to use them to organize text or to do the task. He could retell the important points from his content map about informational texts. Deki was very successful at navigating websites and seemed able to skim learn reading well for pertinent getting main idea. Sometimes he would visually track the text while others learn or while he listened to an audiobook. Deki stated that he enjoyed learn reading text such narrative texts. Deki‘s level of engagement was the primary area of concern. His ability on reading interest investigate stated that he chose ―Papuan story‖ and it had ―been years since he enjoyed a story book.‖ He said he was a legend learner but, by the end of the year, he had signed out more other reading materials sometimes he did not know before. Deki showed very little self-monitoring for understanding while learning reading using local text with skimming. He made more errors 61.5 that affected understanding of skimming questions in March than he did in January 7. He said was a ―pretty good learner but I can get better.‖ He also stated it took him a long time to learn much in getting idea from the texts. When asked to write down his thoughts, he had difficulty with the organization the local texts even though he could provide an accurate oral retell. Deki enjoyed learning reading through local text with scanning. He did not expand his experience refers to skimming over the duration of the study . As he stated, ―I learnt what interests me.‖
