3. The Characteristics of International Standard School

International Standard School must have excellence which is shown by the international confession toward the input, the process, and the educational result in all aspects. The confession is proved by the good certificate from one of the members of OECD Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development andor other developed countries which; has certain excellence in educational field, believed to have reputation of quality which is confessed internationally, and also the graduates have international competitiveness ability. The international standard school graduates are supposed not only to master the competency stated in SNP national educational standard in Indonesia but also to master global key ability in order to be equivalent with other graduates from developed countries. Therefore, the intimacy of the students toward progressive values which is considered as superior in the globalization era need to be used as the reference in the implementation of international standard school. Those progressive values will be able xxiv to narrow the difference between Indonesia and other developed countries, especially in economy and technology field. The development of economy and technology field depends on the mastery of hard science Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Astronomy and soft science Sociology, Economics, Foreign Language, and Global Ethics. Referring to the educational vision, the characteristic of international standard school is: “Terwujudnya insan Indonesia yang cerdas dan kompetitif secara internasional” www.pelangi.dit-plp.go.id . The vision has implication that the preparation of human who is international standard needs some efforts which is done intensively, directionally, planned, and systematically in order to realize developed, secure and prosperous, peaceful, and respected country and also be considered by other countries. Therefore, the mission of international standard school is to make Indonesian people smart and competitive internationally, who are able to compete and collaborate globally. These missions are realized through the policy, plan, program, and activities in international standard school which are arranged carefully, accurately, futuristically, and based on demand- driven. The implementation of international standard school has the aim to make graduates having both national and international class. International standard school has to fill eight elements in SNP National educational standard www.pelangi.dit-plp.go.id286 ; 1 content standard standar xxv isi; 2 process standard standar proses; 3 graduates competency standard standar kompetensi lulusan; 4 educator and educational staff standard standar pendidik dan tenaga kependidikan; 5 facilities and basic facilities standard standar sarana dan prasarana; 6 management standard standar pengelolaan; 7 financing standard standar pembiayaan; and 8 assessment standard standar pembiayaan. The characteristic of international standard school is that the school has to be able to fill those eight elements.
