57 among at, in, or on. The type of the second part of the test was translation. It
consisted of six items in which the students were required to translate the sentence in each item from Indonesian into English. Each sentence should include
preposition at, in, or on. The total number of items in the test was thirty six items. Meanwhile, the total number of students who became the sample of this research
was sixty one students. This number was taken from two out of three Translation 1 classes. The detailed information of the students’ achievement in the test is
presented as follows.
a. The Students’ Achievement in Each Part of the Test
Table 4.1 shows the students’ score in part A of the test. The score for each student was determined by dividing the total correct answers by the total number
of items in part A, then the result was multiplied by 100.

58 It is seen in Table 4.1 that there was no student who achieved score on the
highest range of scores. There were two students 3.3 who achieved the highest score on the range of 80-89 and nine students 9.8 who achieved the lowest
score on the range of 40-49. In addition, there were thirty students 49.2 whose scores ranged from 50-59.

Table 4.2 shows the students’ score in part B of the test. It is seen from the table that none of the students achieved the range of scores 90-100. There were
five students 8.2 who obtained the highest score on the range of 80-89 and four students 8.9 who obtained the lowest scores on the range of 30-39. Most
of the students obtained the scores that ranged from 60-69. In this part of the test, there were twenty eight students 37.8 who obtained this range of scores. The
fact that there were many students who obtained the scores, which ranged from 60-69, shows that the second part of the test was quite troublesome for most of the

59 students. It could be assumed that the students still had problems in choosing
prepositions at, in, and on to be translated from Indonesian prepositions di, pada, di dalam, and di atas.
b. The Students’ Achievement in the Whole Part of the Test
