c. General Purposes
The general purposes were also adapted from the Basic Competence of the School-Based Curriculum KTSP. The reason was that the materials were
designed based on the School-Based Curriculum KTSP. The Basic Competences of this study are:
1. Be able to convey meaning in form of simple short functional text by using
written language accurately, fluently, and acceptable to interact with environment.
2. Be able to convey meaning and rhetorical steps in simple short essay by using
written language accurately, fluently, and acceptable to interact with environment in form of descriptive and recount text.
3. Formulating Learning Objectives
After stating the basic competences, the writer formulated learning objectives. The learning objectives were stated as indicators. The indicators were considered
as the target in every meeting which should be successfully achieved by the students. The indicators were also used as the measurement whether the students
