As what was mentioned before, the second section of the questionnaires consisted of some questions to elicit the respondents’ personal opinions and suggestions to make some improvement on the designed set of the materials. This section allowed the respondents to elaborate their responses to the designed set of the materials in a more comprehensive way. 1 Respondents’ personal opinions on the designed set of the materials The respondents’ personal opinions on the designed set of the materials were divided into two parts, that is, the strengths good points of the designed materials and the weaknesses of the designed materials. The summary of the respondents’ opinion on the strengths good points of the designed materials is presented as follows: a The designed materials were interesting. b The surface structure of the designed materials was reader friendly. c The pictures presented in the designed materials were interesting and supported the designed materials. d The activities in the designed materials were very interesting. e The designed materials were well-developed and well-arranged. f The chosen topics were appropriate for senior high school students since the topics were from everyday life. g The designed materials were suitable for the eleventh grade students. h The designed materials were applicable. i The time allotted for each unit was adequate. All respondents commented that generally the designed materials were good, properly-developed, and interesting. Two respondents said that the materials and activities in the designed materials were very interesting. In addition, they commented that the pictures presented in the designed materials were interesting and supported the designed materials. Moreover, one respondent added that the surface structure of designed materials was reader friendly. All respondents stated that the designed materials were properly designed and suitable for the eleventh grade students. In relation to the time allocation, all respondents agreed that the time allotted for each unit was adequate. Besides stating the strengths of the designed materials, the respondents also gave some criticism on the designed materials. The summary of the respondents’ opinions on the weaknesses of the designed materials is presented as follows: a There were some grammatical mistakes in the designed materials. b There were very few Wh-questions in the designed materials. Based on the data gathered, the writer realized that designed materials still needed some improvements. There were some criticisms delivered by the respondents. Two respondents stated that there were some grammatical mistakes in the designed materials. Therefore, there should not be any mistakes, especially grammatical mistakes, in the instructional materials. In relation to the tasks employed in the designed materials, one respondent argued that there were very few Wh-questions in the designed materials. 2 Respondents’ suggestions to improve the designed set of the materials In the last part of the second section of the questionnaires, the respondents gave some suggestions to make some enhancement on the designed materials. The suggestions given by the respondents are presented as follows: a There were some grammatical mistakes in the designed materials. They suggested that the writer recheck and correct some grammatical mistakes in the designed materials. b They also suggested that the writer add some Wh-questions in the designed materials so that the tasks could be more challenging. c The division of the sections and subsections of each unit in the designed materials was not really clear. The writer should reconsider the arrangement and the division of the sections and subsection in each topic. d There was no list of references included in the designed materials. They suggested that the writer add the list of references in the last part of the designed materials. Based on the data gathered, two respondents suggested that the writer recheck and correct some grammatical mistakes in the designed materials. Besides, one respondent suggested that the writer add some Wh-questions in the PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI designed materials. The respondent added that it was important to make the exercises more challenging. Dealing with the segments and sections of each unit, one respondent suggested that the writer reconsider the arrangement and division of the sections and subsections in each unit of the designed materials. Another respondent also added that the writer should provide a list of references in the last part of the designed materials. According to the respondent, it is important for the users of the materials to know the sources of the materials i.e. the aural texts, the theory of the language employed.
