Effectiveness of behavior skills training to improve assertiveness victims of

bullying

ABSTRACT

This research aimed to examine the effectiveness of behavior skills training to
improve assertiveness victims of bullying. Treatments behavior skills training
include six assertiveness techniques that are, make assertive statements, resist
manipulation and threats, respond to name-calling, leave a bullying situation,
enlist support from bystanders, boost their own self-esteem, and remain calm in
stressful situations. Each technique is taught through four stages that are,
instruction by presenting advance techniques taught, then modeling to show
videos on the techniques taught, after that stage role play by asking the subject of
direct practice the techniques taught in accordance with the video that has been
displayed before, and the last stage of feedback that facilitators provide input on
the subject after the direct practice the technique. The design of the research is
time series design, with 5 subjects aged 11-14 years who have low assertiveness.
Data collected by the assertiveness scale and analyzed by friendman's ANOVA,
showed that behavioral skill training is very effective for increasing assertiveness
