prove that she is in the errand of her Mistress so that the societies release her. Finally, even though Florens is
success to release from the society‟s bad treatment, the society is still curious and ridicules her as nobody.
4. Being treated unfairly by White Woman
The story begins in the boat. Florens goes with Reverend Father in order to trade the tobacco to another region in America. She has an errand from her Master
and she goes with Reverend father. In second days, the weather become cold, however, Florens is happy with her thin cloak. Then there is a white woman who
comes close to Florens. “A woman comes to me and says stand up. I do and she takes my cloak from my shoulders. Then my wooden shoes. She walks away”
2009: 7. This bad treatment is seen when white woman takes Florens‟s stuffs not
only thin cloak but also wooden shoes. In this case, Florens cannot struggle with white woman, she is just silent. She is afraid of white because of the different
races. White as superior can do anything they want with black. Florens as a weakness knows that her struggle just be nothing because she is just an inferior
slave. At that time, Reverend Father is regretful because he is away when white woman takes
Florens‟s thin cloak and wooden shoes. Finally, Reverend Father gives her rags, strips sailcloth then he wraps her feet.

C. The Moral Values Revealed through The Major Character’s Bad
Experiences
Thomas English Hill states that The intrinsic value on which all value depends is an immediately felt
quality of experience that is not readily describable in the terms of any sort of experience. 1959: 221.
The intrinsic value is fully empirical sense of experience into cognitive
factors to analyze moral judgment. Moreover, the intrinsic value is able to test some objective criteria. It cannot be analyze in the short scale of experience, but it
scale from a large experiences. Nevertheless, each value of experience can be apprehended, it contributes to the whole experiences in the larger perspective
which more significance to value. There are statements of fact and statement of ethical principles in order to
establish the specific moral conclusion. Moral value is the idea of principle that teach person to be better action. People can learn moral value from their act,
especially their own experiences. The way to get moral values needs the agent who experiencing something important. From its experiences, the writer can get
moral values. The writer explains more about moral values that are revealed by Florens. Based on novel A Mercy, there are several values from the major
character‟s bad experiences which can be learnt. By looking the history, it is very clear that the slaves exist in America around 17
