Judging somebody should be based on realities

48 life even in the complicated problems. Somebody should have positive thinking before heshe judges the other human life. Moreover, somebody should know the reality before he she judges somebody else. In this case, Florens‟s moral is bad because she judges her mother directly as an evil before she really knows about her mother that actually her mother loves herself so much. Her mother wants to release her from bad treatments of D‟Ortega‟s cruelty.

2. Being sincere and serving somebody sincerely

From the first time when Florens and blacksmith meet, Florens loves blacksmith. Blacksmith is free black man slave that work to build Jacob Vaark‟s house. He can also cure somebody who gets illness. Hine and Thompson state, “Woman worked alongside men in virtually every aspect of the plowing, planting, and harvesting” 2009: 28. Because blacksmith works side by side with Florens, they become closer. As a naïve woman, Florens feels in love with him. She thought that he is free man which can bring her to a better life. Under her Mistress errand, Florens is always enthusiastic to find blacksmith‟s house. I have cold stone in my chest. I don‟t need Lina to warn me that I must not be alone with strange men … I have to choose quick. I choose you. I go west into the trees. Everything I want is west. You. Your talk. The medicine you know that will make Mistress well. You will hear what I have to say and come back with me. I only to go west. One day? Two night? 2009: 41. In Florens ‟s mind, her thought just blacksmith. Despite of the fact that Mistress relies Florens to get blacksmith, Lina forbids Florens to go in the errand. She worries if she gets something trouble in the middle of the journey. Even though Florens is stubborn, she is persistent to go west to get blacksmith. 49 Arriving in blacksmith home, she explains her purpose. Then blacksmith orders Florens to keep malaik well during blacksmith left his home to cure Rebekka‟s illness. In any bad situation, she must guard him. The reality is Malaik hates Florens. Then he rebels to Florens. He hits his mouth in the table, it makes his mouth little bleeding. Afterwards, Malaik faints. Suddenly, blacksmith returns to his home. He blames Florens for all incidents that happen to Malaik. According to Milton A. Gonsalves “we are interested in ignorance only to the degree that lack of knowledge affects the voluntariness of a human act so as to make the act less human act 1986: 35. Florens which has a naïve character emphasizes as an ignorant person. She lacks some knowledge even though she can read and write. In this case, she does not know how to get attention of Malaik so that she can manage Malaik very well, in spite of the fact that he hates Florens. As a human being, people must serve mankind to others. In this case, Florens is kind because she serves Malaik well although he hates herself. In other situation, Florens loves blacksmith very much. Her affection to blacksmith is truly seen in some description of the novel. It depicti on is “I don‟t want to be free of you because I am live only with you” 2009: 70. At the end, Florens surrender to blacksmith because he chooses Malaik rather than herself. Even though she has a dream to have future life with him, the reality is not the same as she wants. “Why are you killing me I ask you. I want you to go. Let me explain. No. Now. Why? Why? Because you are a slave 2009: 141. 50 . At the end, blacksmith rejects Florens because she is just a young girl slave who has not got a freedom yet. In this case, blacksmith must respect to Florens although they are in different level, different gender, and different races. At the end, Florens leave blacksmith with her sincerity even though she loves blacksmith very much. As a human being, somebody should have good moral as Florens has which being sincere to blacksmith and serving Malaik well.

3. Being resilient to face problem

As a young girl slave, Florens experience many bad experiences as other slave does. She is not only being ignored but also being abandoned. She does not have a freedom to do anything she wants. “Law courts trade were their exclusive domain and overdressed women in raised heels rode in carts driven by ten-year- old Negroes” 2009: 14. White people employ not only adult Negroes but also children Negroes. Even they are still a child, they are forced to drive the carts. The Negros‟ children brought white women which are overdressed in the cart. Since they are still child, they force to work. The work actually does not proper with child. Children should not to work, they ought to study. Ironically, it is very common for white people to do anything they want because law court allows it. In fact, child Negroes experienced bad thing that it actually destroy their future life. The children who have able to walk and talk are employed by white people. When Florens is still a child, she and Reverend Father are in the boat, she gets such bad treatment when Reverend father goes somewhere near. There is white woman who take her cloak and wooden shoes from her. Florens is just quiet. She doesn‟t do anything. “I never cry. Even when the woman steals my 51 cloak and shoes and I am freezing on the boat no tears come” 2009: 69. Colonialism occurs in that era. Florens is aware that she as an inferior woman, the struggle is just nothing for her. As time goes, she grows up became a mature woman. She faces it with sincerity. She does not cry even when white woman steal her cloak. Even she feels reject by her mother, she feels tough. See? You are correct. A Minha Mae too. I am become wilderness but I am also Florens. In full. Unforgiven. Unforgiving. No ruth, my love. None. Hear me? Slave. Free. I last. I will keep one sadness. 2009: 161. When she is rejected by her mother, she feels hurt. She keeps one sadness means that she tries to tough even though it is hard to keep it tough. She is aware that she is just slave that full of sad and miserable inside her life. At the end, with her brave and her unyielding ‟s characteristics, Florens become a free black slave. Sowell states that Slavery can neither be forgotten nor forgiven, certainly not by those who never suffered it personally and certainly not in exchange for money or other benefits 1994: 219. The quotation above means the slavery cannot be forgiven and be forgotten. The white people treat them very badly. The black people who experience those bad treatments cannot forgive and be forgot. They experienced many bad experiences and treatments. This is such unfairness to the black people. They memorize all the bad things that they receive. The slave s‟s bad memory cannot be forgotten that being unchanged it to the money or benefits. Daniel C. Maguire states that Persons who have not yet maturity grown to moral maturity will show the sign typical of their stage of development. They will need a greater protective reliance on authority figures and external norms 1978: 228. 52 Relating to the major character, Florens‟s maturity grows up. She is able to survive by her own in front of people ‟s attack. She does not need protection from any other people when she faces her problem. She can face her problem alone even though it is ha rd to solve. In this case, Florens‟s bad experiences make her maturity grows up. It causes Florens becomes stronger woman. She tries to tough to face all the problem and unfairness that she gets. Several bad experiences actually can make good effect to somebody. From several bad experiences, somebody learn many problems in order to get better morality life. When somebody is categorize become resilient person, heshe definitely survive for hisher problem which come up in the future.

Afric and much more, says another 2009: 111. Several white women moan Florens as black because white women have not seen her yet. They say, “Afric” to Florens, they think that their race are the best human being in the world. “I am not understanding anything except that I am in danger as the dog‟s head shows and Mistress is my only defense” 2009: 111. As an inferiority, she is aware that she is in danger in the middle of the white people. In her thought, she is still thinking about Mistress. She is a good girl that
