42 teaching writing to the eighth grade students of SMP BPK Penabur Indramayu based
on the observations and the interview. The researcher also attached the teacher’s materials of writing to know the class procedure of the use of text modelling in
teaching writing to the eighth grade students of SMP BPK Penabur Indramayu was good implemented. From the observations, the researcher concluded there was the
class procedure of the use of text modelling in teaching writing to the eighth grade students of SMP BPK Penabur Indramayu, as follows:
1. In writing class, the teacher gave a recount with funny ending.
The teacher gave the recount with funny ending and the title was “None of Your Business” see Appendix G.
2. The teacher explained the field, tenor, and mode of the recount.
The teacher taught that the text modelling was one of the stages which the teacher presented exercises which asked students to identify particular
information in the text and presented exercises which directed students to the understanding of features and text structures and also asked students to
identify language elements conjunctions, substitutions, etc
3. The students read the recount with funny ending.
4. The teacher explained the purpose and generic structure of the recount text.
The purpose of the recount with funny ending was used to retell events or experiences for the purpose of informing and mainly to entertain the audience
readers. And, the generic structure of the text is orientation, series of events,
and re-orientation with funny ending.

5. The teacher also explained and compared the text model with other examples
of text types briefly. This activity only would like to know the comparison of
generic features between the recount text and other text types. 6.
The students identified particular information and linguistic features of the
text, such as the generic structure, grammar, language elements
conjunctions, substitutions, and so on in the recount. 7.
The students answered the questions in front of the class, and then they wrote the answers on the white board well.
8. After getting all answers on the white board, the teacher and students
discussed the correct answers together. 9.
The teacher reviewed the lesson about the recount with funny ending.
Based on the class procedure of the use of text modelling in teaching writing to the eighth grade students of Junior High School above, the use of text modelling in
the class was good implemented since the text modelling was applied clearly and appropriated with students’ background, and what were in our close surroundings
where the students studied. It meant that the teacher gave an appropriate example of the recount with funny ending with the students’ background and level. Thus, the
students who had experienced on the use of text modelling and had positive perceptions on the use of text modelling, they could understand the generic features
of the text and did the exercise well.
