25 Modelling the text stage can make students understand the structural pattern
and linguistics features of the text type. Recount is the text type which is learnt in the second semester of the eighth grade students of Junior High School, particularly
recount with funny ending is overwhelmingly the most widely experienced by the students in their school. It means that students spend a lot of time telling the story of
what they did or found out in their daily life. Thus, it can also create students to understand the generic features of the recount with funny ending easier.
There are many things to comprehend in using of text modelling in teaching writing. Ideally, the teachers have to make the students aware about those things.
Therefore, there are some theories that contribute to the use of text modelling, such as genre based approach that can make students understand and comprehend a
written language well. Based on some preliminary observations, this research intends to find out
what the students’ perceptions on the use of text modelling in teaching writing to the eighth grade students of SMP BPK Penabur Indramayu are and what the class
procedure of the use of text modelling in teaching writing to the eighth grade students of SMP BPK Penabur Indramayu is.
