4. Relative Clauses Function to Modify Object of the Preposition
In order to function as an object of the preposition modifier, a relative clause should modify the antecedent that serves as the object of the preposition in
the main clause. Therefore, in this research, every antecedent which follows the preposition will be considered as an object of the preposition, except for the
objects which are considered as indirect objects which follow the prepositions to and for. In this research, I collected 129 relative clauses functioned as the objects
of the preposition Appendix 7, page 181. The table below presents how the relative clauses function to modify the object of the preposition of the main

Looking at example 11, the defining relative clause who love a great read explained the antecedent, people, which served as the object of the
preposition in the main clause. We can analyze that the main clause, For people, this book comes highly recommended, in example 11 had this book functioned as
the subject, comes functioned as the verb, highly recommended functioned as the subject complement, and for those functioned as the prepositional phrase.
Therefore the relative clause in example 11 functioned as the object of the preposition modifier. In example 12, the non-defining relative clause also
functioned as the object of the preposition modifier. We can analyze that the non-
defining relative clause which tend to be heavy and occasionally include long fibers explained the antecedent, cakes, which followed the preposition, with, in
