Hazaras’ trait has shown us that it is possible for Amir to be disloyal to Hassan. It is given on behalf of Amir and Baba as the Pashtuns and Hassan as a Hazara as
how each side can possibly behave one another. The Pashtuns are told to be a tribe sometimes having a brutal, tough and rude personality with a strong individuality.
The Hazaras, however, are a simple-hearted tribe who are total and sincere to live even a low sad life condition as a laborer and such.
4.2.2.1.2 Sunni and Shia in Afghanistan
Explanation about Sunni and Shia Islam is applicable to the discussion of Amir’s disloyalty to Hassan because these two Islam creeds are professed by the
two mentioned tribes in The Kite Runner namely the Pashtuns and the Hazaras. Amir is a Sunni because the Pashtuns only profess this creed of Islam. Hassan,
instead, believes in Shia as the Hazaras. The difference of Islam has influenced the relationship between Amir, Baba and Hassan as it also influences the social

Hosseini here indirectly proves to us that there is a possibility of some differences of the two sects of Islam which cause them to hurt each other. The
difference of religious practices with the other religions including the Shia Hazara might cause this problem. Malleson explains that the women of Moghol Mongol

From this part about Sunni and Shia in Afghanistan, we can conclude that the relationship between Sunni and Shia is not good. Here is the clear connection
of the Pashtuns’ and the Hazaras’ long fight in Aghanistan just like what Amir explains Hosseini 8-9. Both sides are fanatic to their own belief and reject to
accept any other little differences from the other side. Therefore, the conflict between Sunni and Shia has also influenced the relationship between Amir and
Hassan and has triggered Amir to be disloyal to Hassan, as well. Sunni and Shia differences become one of the reasons why the Pashtuns hate the Hazaras i.e.
because Shia believes in different thing from the Pashtuns.
