Humorous narrative which consists of views or attitude towards the problem of life by telling a story containing moral values. These narrative stories’ characteristics made them ideal to teach to elementary school students for the character building. Folklore as part of the narrative stories is the cultural property or local wisdom. This kind of story is in a form of oral or written traditions which is not only needs to be preserved but also need to be developed. It is necessary to do a multicultural approach in order to get a comprehensive understanding, so that the results can be used as a learning resource for the development of the unity of Indonesia, which in the end will

be a source of development of the national character (Sularto: 2011). That is why the narrative material in primary schools should be derived from Indonesian folklore with local culture belongs in it, as a reference character education for students.

If directed in the way of a good story, the narrative learning will contribute to the character of children, to be able to imagine and try to appreciate the experience of others as the basis of moral learning. The moral message would be delivered through the narrative story in two ways implicit and explicit. Furthermore, religious, honest, tolerant, disciplined, hard-working, creative, independent, democratic, curiosity, nationalist, patriotic, appreciate the achievements, peace, reading habit, environmental care, social responsibility, and responsibility can be applied through narrative learning. The characters selection which will be transferred by parents to their children can be matched with narrative stories that have been chosen, because not all character values are passed in a single narrative. One of the narrative stories that can be used as the learning materials is Rawa Pening in order to awaken the local culture in the learning process. Narrative stories can be given to children under six, or if it is given in the Bahasa, they can be given up to five or six classes. The standard competency in short functional text is to understand very simple descriptive text and illustrated in the students’ context. The basic competence is to understand a very simple narrative text with image. The main learning materials are the simple illustrated narrative texts. The learning activity is to identify the narrative text and question-and-answer which are very simple regarding the material. The performance indicator of competency is to identify the simple illustrated narrative text.

The character building through narrative storytelling using the method Suggestopedia can be done at home by mothers who replace teachers with the following conditions.

Before starting the story ensures that children are ready to go to sleep (in no really sleepy condition), the light is dimmed, a light sleep, switch on the air conditioner, if any, or the fans to get them relaxed and started to play soothing music (music which supports children to sleep) is not loud but slowly. The mother may start the story by saying the timing, setting of place and characters of the story, or we could call it the orientation then proceed to the story. They switched the dim light on, air conditioner or a fan and trying to find songs to accompany the story.

The parents, either the father or mother must try to implement the Suggestopedia, because it could make children comfortable and relax before going to bed. In addition, parents can do the character building to their children by matching a selection of local narrative story. The mothers are expected to pay more attention to their children by reading them a story (ndongeng) before going to bed. The settings for reading story or ndongeng should be similar with the one in Suggestopedia. The children will feel relaxed with dim light, air conditioned or fans, and classic songs such as gamelan or other soothing music, and fluctuating voice from their mother in the process of ndongeng which is adapted to the story line. The last, ndongeng is very effective to convey moral values to build children's character which finally establishes the character of this nation.
