4.3.3. Ethnical Factor
Generally, Parangtritis Coastal Area is dominated by Javanese ethnics. The ethnical factor of the area is analyzed based on the ethnical authenticity. It is
assessed based on local community of certain neighborhood within this area, whether they originally came from Parangtritis Village or they came from other
places. Local people that originally came from this area are assumed to have original culture of this area and they can be categorized as the authentic ethnic of
the area. The neighborhoods that are dominated with the original ethnic are considered as the area with authentic ethnicity, and scored with 2.
Meanwhile, there are also a lot of people who did not originally come from Parangtritis Village but they live within the area for years. They usually
came from other places as the impact of tourism activity in this area. They usually live in certain neighborhood with rapid tourism activities. The
neighborhoods dominated by these people are considered as the area with less

authentic ethnicity with a score of 1. The distribution of those two groups of ethnicity within Parangtritis Area can be seen in Figure 29.

4.3.4. Tourism Economic Factor
The last cultural factor that is being considered in this study is tourism economic factor. This factor is analyzed based on the existing condition of
economic activities within Parangtritis Area. Economic activities for tourism services in this area have been already developing because of the existence of
many tourism objects that have attracted many visitors to come and visit the area. These activities have an important role for current and future development of
tourism activities in the area. That is why this category is given high value of 3 in scoring.
Other economic activities of local people that also affect tourism development of the area are the fishery activities. Marine and fishery activities in
this area are still the traditional ones; therefore, beside considered as the source of

local income to the local people; those activities can also be developed as tourism attractions, which can characterize the area as the coastal area as well. These
fishery activities are given as 2 in scoring. Beside those two economic activities, there are also agricultural activities,
which cannot be neglected. A big part of local people in this area are still working in agriculture sector as their main income. But since agricultural activities are not
closely related to coastal livelihood, and they do not give impacts directly to tourism activities, they are considered to have the lowest value of scoring.
