According to the result above, it is obvious that Mancingan neighborhood has the highest quality of cultural resources. High quality areas are only found in
some small areas in Depok and Mancingan neighborhood, which is intersected with infrastructure areas. Because of their small size, they can be neglected in
consideration for future development as cultural tourism attractions. The medium quality is found in the neighborhood of Depok and Grogol X. The rest of the
areas are included in low quality area, except a small part of infrastructure area in the north to west side of the area that has very low quality of cultural resources.
4.4. Potential Tourism Area
By integrating those three assessment results of visual, natural, and cultural resources quality, a composite map of potential tourism area can be
obtained. The composite map is acquired by overlaying those three maps of visual, natural, and cultural quality as the result on the previous analysis.
According to the acquired result, the study area is dominated by high to medium quality of potential area for tourism, which includes beach, sand dunes,
woodlands, and a big part of agriculture area, which is believed to have a good to quite good quality of visual, natural, as well as cultural resources. There are also
67
some areas with very high quality as the highest affirmation of quality. Some part of these areas can be found within Mancingan Neighborhood, especially around
Cepuri Parangkusumo that is believed as the cultural object of the main symbol of ‘Ratu Kidul’ legend. Other areas with very high quality of tourism potency are
within the agricultural area in the west and north of Parangtritis area, which have together good quality of visual, natural, and cultural resources.
The remaining part of the area is covered with low to very low quality of tourism potency, which includes settlement area and part of scrubland area. For
settlement areas, though they have very low value in visual quality, but culturally and naturally they still have qualities that can not be neglected; and therefore, they
are regarded in low position. The lowest quality is found in part of scrubland area, which is only considered because of their low visual qualities both visually
and naturally, but they do not have any value as cultural resources. The spatial distribution of those potential areas can be seen in Figure 32.
These potential areas for tourism activities together with the existing tourism objects are then considered in developing touring plan alternatives within the
Parangtritis Area. The areas that are being considered are especially the area with medium until very high potential quality of tourism. They are especially
considered as the stops that will be linked by tracks and sequencing the visitor movement.
