4.5.2. Touring alternative 2
Touring alternative 2 is developed based on the main theme that Parangtritis Coastal Area besides is enriched with the natural tourism resources, it
also have varied cultural tourism resources. The objective of this alternative is that the visitors can learn many kinds of tourism objects that they visit along their
touring within the area based on two different approaches, which are natural based tourism objects and cultural based tourism objects.
Similar to the process in touring alternative 1, potential stops are defined by considering the area with very high to medium quality of tourism potentials,
besides the existing tourism objects. But different with touring alternative 1, in

planning the touring alternative 2, the potential stops are classified into 2 main group based on the tourism resources, whether they are based on natural or
cultural resources. The detail information of interpretation in each stop is as shown in Table 12.

This laboratorium record and doing some research about many natural
phenomena in coastal area, especially in Parangtritis.
Learn many natural phenomena; including some disaster that may happen in coastal

Woodlands Open farm area that is attempted by
local community for planting their annual plants.
Learn the traditional ways of local community in attemting the open farm.
vi. River Ecosystem of Opak
River The river that flows directly to the
sea with typical vegetations of stream valley and sand mining
activities. Learn the river ecosystem and being aware
the important values of this ecosystem that could be damaged because of too many
sand mining activities. vii.
Paddy Field and Red Onion Farming
The irrigation rice field and red onion farming which become the
main agricultural activities of local people in this area.
Learn and feel the atmosphere of traditional rural livelihood based on agricultural living.

1. Syeh Bela Belu Grave A grave of a Majapahit nobleman
who also spread Isla religion in Parangtritis area. It is a spiritual
tourism object and a good view point in the hillside.
Learn the historic footstep of Islam spreading and the influence of Majapahit
Kingdom in Parangtritis area, and also learn the variety of landscapes by viewing them
from the hillside.
2. Syeh Maulana
Maghribi Grave
A grave of a merchant from Arabic Country who also spread Islam in
Parangtritis area. It is also a spiritual tourism object and a good
view point in the hillside. Learn about one of the figures of the
spreader of Islam spreading in Parangtritis area, besides enjoying the good view from
the hillside.
3. Parang Wedang Hot Spring
A traditional public bathing spot that use the natural hot spring as
the water resource. Learn about the use of natural hot spring as
a traditional public bathing spot since hundred years ago.
4. Ki Ageng Selohening Grave
A grave of a nobleman from Majapahit Kingdom who is also
known as Budhist spreader in this area.
Get the ideas that there were also Budhist spreading in the area though it was not as
succeed as Islam spreading in the area. 5.
Dipokusumo Grave A grave that is used to be a villa of
Prince Dipokusumo, the third son of Prabu Brawijaya IV of
Majapahit Empire. Learn about the historic foot steps of the
Majapahit Empire within the Parangtritis Area.

Cave A cave which was used by
Pangeran Diponegoro for one of his sacred meditation after his
meditation in Selarong Cave Feel the atmosphere of the place that was
ever used by one of Indonesian hero, Pangeran Diponegoro, for meditation in
between his fight against the colonist. 7. Panglima Sudirman
Monument A historic evidence of a historic
route of Panglima Sudirman on his gerilya movement to fight for
Indonesia freedom. Learn the route of gerilya movement of
Panglima Sudirman in one of its stops and learn the historic value of his heroic
fighting. 8.
Dry Rice Field Area of traditional rice field which
only count on rainy season for watering the the field.
Learn about the traditional rice planting system while enjoying the scenery of
traditional rural environment. 9. Parangendog
Swimming Pool
Traditional swimming pool with natural well spring.
Learn the use of natural well spring as the water resource of traditional public bathing
pool since hundred years ago. 10. Parangtritis Beach
A beach with a wide open space and beautiful scenery combined
with Karsts Mountain scenery along from the east to the north
side of the beach. Learn the unique characteristics of the
beach covered with black colored sand and located side by side with the Karsts
Mountain.
11. Parangkusumo Beach A beach as a place of spiritual
event and cultural ceremony of Labuhan, a ritual devoting to the
Southern Ocean, which closely related to the legend of “Kanjeng
Ratu Kidul”. Learn the spiritual values of the ritual
ceremony and feel how strong the legend is believed by many communities.
12. Cepuri
Parangkusumo A place where Panembahan
Senopati met and made the agreement with Ratu Kidul in
founding the empire of Mataram. Learn the spiritual value and feel the
spiritual atmosphere of the place as part of Parangkusumo Beach as a whole as the
center of “Ratu Kidul” legend.
Considering the theme and the objective of this touring alternative, two tracks are developed that linked two different groups of potential stops, first with
natural tourism resources, and the other with cultural tourism resources. Both of tracks are looping that start at the same point, Syeh Bela Belu as the first point
visited after entering the area, which is considered besides as cultural point, but also as natural resource as hilly woodland with good point of visibility. At the
end of each track, it should meet the same point where it starts to continue to another track, so that it is easy for visitors to choose whether they want to visit
natural resources first before the cultural resources, or vice versa. The layout of
this touring alternative and its stops is illustrated in Figure 35 and Figure 36.

The main theme of touring alternative 3 is defined that Parangtritis Coastal Area has a great values for conserving the natural factors of coastal environment
as well as the spiritually cultural resources of the area, besides the traditional livelihood of the local community that also need to be conserved as one of the
potential tourism resources to maintain the sustainable tourism of this area. The objective of the track is that the visitors are mainly expected to gain the
knowledge of physical characteristics of natural resources, as well as social and cultural characteristic of the area, and try to understand the important values of
their existences for the tourism sustainability of the area.

The potential stops of the track are classified into 3 groups of potential stops based on different resources conservation. The first group of stops is for
traditional livelihood of local community conservation. The second group of stops is defined as conservation on natural factors of coastal environment, and the
last group is for the spiritually cultural resources conservation. The detail information of themes and objectives in each stop is shown in Table 13.

In order to link all the potential stops defined before, there are 3 tracks developed, where one track link several stops within one group of potential stops.
Each track is a linear track that connected one to another which eventually creating one big loop as the main track. This track starts from the main entrance

of the area and visiting the hilly woodland as the starting point of traditional livelihood conservation track, which end with the Dry Field Woodland. This
track then continues to the track of natural conservation of coastal environment, which starts with the Geospatial Laboratory of Parangtritis and end in Sand Dunes
point. The track then continues again with the track of spiritually cultural conservation, which is started with visiting Cepuri Parangkusumo and ended with
visiting the grave of Syeh Bela Belu, then back again to the main entrance. The pictures of each potential stop and the map of this touring alternative can be seen
in Figure 37 and Figure 38.
