4.2.2. Hydrology Factor
Parangtritis is a coastal area, which has two main components of hydrology factors; they are the sea that is Indonesia Ocean and the river namely
Kali Opak. Both of them give the interesting attractions with their good scenery and unique environment. Since this research is more concentrated on the tourism
activities in land area, then the sea is spatially represented by beach area. As a coastal area, Parangtritis is very identical to beach. Beach already
becomes the main tourism attraction of this area. People do many recreational activities on the beach, such as enjoying the view, swimming, and fishing. They
even do some spiritual activities there, such as ‘labuhan’ or ceremonial devoting to the sea. The tourism activities to be developed must also be more concentrated
on the beach rather than the river. That is why the beach is then considered to have higher score than the river. The beach is scored with 3, while the river is
scored with 2, even though many tourism attractions can be developed on the river

or on the riverbank area. But the river should be considered as part of the system of the sea, where the river flows to the sea. The spatial representation of the
hydrology factors of Parangtritis area can be seen in Figure 20.

4.2.3. Vegetation Factor
Parangtritis area has varied kinds of vegetation, which can be differentiated based on the location of the area or based on the vegetation
structure. The concept of sensitive environments is used here to view the importance of some vegetation to the area. Vegetations within the sensitive
environment, such as riverbanks or stream valleys, and sand dunes, are considered to have high values, which is scored with 3. It is because they have more
ecological meaning to the environment, where they can be assumed as an indicator for vegetation of certain environment.
Other vegetations are classified by considering their structures as well as their ecological effect to the environment. Based on the coverage of the area,

besides the brush of sand dune and the vegetation of riverbanks there are woodland vegetations trees and field vegetation or recently tiled farmland.
Woodland vegetations in this study area mostly are planted by community, but grow naturally without high maintenance. Meanwhile, field vegetations or tilled
farmlands are planted and grow with fully intensive maintenance. That is why woodland is considered to have higher value, with score of 2, than tiled farmland
which is scored 1, as woodland has more ecological effects to the environment rather than tiled farmland. The spatial representation of vegetation scoring in
Parangtritis Coastal Area is shown in Figure 21.
