4.5. Developing Touring Plan Alternatives with Interpretive Concept
There are three touring alternatives that are developed in this study by using the concept of developing interpretation track. The interpretation concept is
used here as the best way to communicate all the potential resources owned by Parangtritis Coastal Area to the visitors, through their first hand experiences with
objects, artifacts, landscapes, or sites they visit along the tracks. Those three touring alternatives are developed based on the same vision of interpretation that
is try to explore and communicate the resources with visual, natural, and cultural qualities within coastal area of Parangtritis. But each touring alternative is
developed with its own specific main theme based on that vision.
4.5.1. Touring Alternative 1
Alternative 1 is developed based on the main theme that Parangtritis Coastal Area is enriched with varied tourism resources and attractions, not just
because of its well known beach. The objective of this alternative is that the visitors can obtain the information about the varied tourism resources and
attractions within the area, as well as the knowledge of the values of the resources, besides the recreational experiences along the track.
The potential stops are determined with considering the potential area result from previous analysis together with the existing tourism objects. The very
high and high potential areas for tourism activities are prioritized to be potential stops along the track. The areas with medium potential quality also need to be
considered to be a potential stop, especially the ones with special resources, such as the hill foot area with good visibility to view the surrounding landscapes.
70
Every stop along the track should have its own theme as well as objectives based on the values of the resources that are being interpreted. Those themes are
developed based on literature study from several sources, such as Masterplan of Tourism Objects in Parangtritis: Final Report Puspar UGM, 2000, previous
study of tourism in Parangtritis that is conducted by Ismoyo 1994, some previous study conducted by Tourism Research Center UGM 1998, and several
tourism brochures and leaflet about Parangtritis area. The detail information of interpretation in each stop is as shown in Table 11.
