CHAPTER V CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This chapter presents the conclusions and the recommendations of this research. The conclusions are the summary of the research findings. Meanwhile,
the recommendations are suggestions for people who are directly connected with the workbook.
A. Conclusions
The purpose of this research was to discover the aspects of a good workbook fulfilled by Pakar workbook. Some checklists were used to evaluate the workbook.
The evaluation was done in order to answer the research problem in the Chapter I: Which aspects of a good workbook are fulfilled by Pakar workbook? There were
nine aspects evaluated in this research. Those nine aspects are: general appearance, design, illustration, and organization, skills, topics, objectives, tasks, language
content, instructions, and teachability and flexibility. Based on the analysis, there were six aspects of Pakar workbook which
fulfilled the aspects of a good workbook. Those aspects were: skills, topics, objectives, tasks, language content and also teachability and flexibility. All of the
lessons in the skills aspect reached six. Meanwhile, all of the lessons achieved three in topics and tasks aspect. In objectives and teachability and flexibility aspects, all
of the lessons met four. Two of the lessons reached four in language content aspect. Besides the fulfilled aspects, there were three aspects unfulfilled. Those aspects
were general appearance that only achieved two for all of the lessons. The next was

design, illustration, and organization which only one lesson that fulfilled. The last was the Instructions aspect that only reached one for all of the lessons. These
aspects were not fulfilled because those aspects did not reach a half of the sum of the criteria in the aspect. Moreover, two of the three lessons did not fulfill the
aspects.
B. Recommendations
Regarding the results of this research, the researcher would like to give some suggestions to those who directly related to the workbook. They are English
teachers, workbook designers, and also future researchers.
1. English Teachers
This research showed that there were still some criteria unfulfilled by the workbook. This fact indicated that there were some demerits of the workbook.
Regarding to the result of this research, the English teachers must be careful to choose a workbook as a supplementary material. The teachers must consider some
aspects before using the workbook. Moreover, if the teachers found some mistakes in the workbook, they had to correct the mistakes. This will help the students
avoiding misunderstanding. In addition, it would be better if the teachers do not only rely on the workbook to deliver the materials. The teachers can add their own
explanations and also provide their own exercises for the students. Therefore, the workbook will not be the primary source of the learning process.

2. Workbook Designers
There are some criteria that must be considered in designing workbook. Since the workbook will be spread throughout the schools. The workbook writers
should pay more attention in designing and editing the workbook. The wrong concept stated in the workbook can cause misunderstanding to the students.
3. Future Researchers
This research is a content analysis of an English workbook for the seventh graders. The aim of this research is to evaluate the workbook. The evaluation was
done by some checklists formulated by some experts. This research can be as an example for other researchers who are interested in the similar case. There are still
many more criteria proposed by the other experts that can be used to evaluate other workbooks. Moreover, it would be beneficial if future researchers examine how to
improve the unfulfilled criteria found in the workbook.
