is to what extent the twelfth grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Wonosari master academic words and the correlation with productive skills. Therefore, this
summary is aimed to give clear and brief description about the result of the research. The suggestions of this research are aimed to the English teachers and
the future researchers as well.
5.1 Conclusions
This research was conducted to know the twelfth grade students’ mastery of academic words and its relation with the students’ productive skills. Mastery
academic word in this research means knowing the word and word meanings. Based on the analysis result, the researcher concluded that the twelfth grade
students’ mastery of academic words was relatively high. However, the relation between academic words mastery with the students’ productive skills is very low,
that is 0.027 below 0.20. In summary, the twelfth grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Wonosari
were able to achieve the minimal standard of academic vocabulary mastery in the beginner level of learning English as foreign language, i.e. 570
academic words, but they are not able to use the words well in their productive skills. It is proved by the scores they achieved in final practice examination and it

shows that knowing the meaning of words is not enough to have good mastery of academic words and productive skills.
5.2 Suggestions
Based on the conclusion, there are two suggestions presented in this section. These suggestions are aimed to the English teachers and the next
researchers. The suggestions are presented as follows: 1. After knowing the result of this research, it is suggested to the English teachers
that they should be able to apply the better vocabulary teaching learning strategies so that the students are able to really master the words, especially in
using and pronouncing the words. It is important to develop better vocabulary mastery since it helps the students master the other English skills. It is also
important to give vocabulary exercises for the students in teaching learning process so that the students can improve their knowledge of vocabulary items,
not only understanding the meanings but also in using and pronouncing the words.
2. It is suggested to the future researchers that they should be able to find the other findings about vocabulary in senior high school, for example: designing
good materials of teaching English, especially vocabulary teaching learning by using appropriate strategies and principles of teaching learning vocabulary
which is integrated into the other skills teaching. Therefore, besides knowing the word meanings, the students are also able to know how to use the words in
the sentences and pronounce the words correctly. PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI
