2. Acceptable Acc

The overall acceptable Acc translations of idiomatic expressions in the movie are 12.2. The next are the examples of Acceptable Acc translation. Excerpt [3] was from Anna ’s prologue in the beginning of the movie. Anna told the reason why she was born. She was a designed baby, since she was born for a particular reason. A scientist hooked up her mothers eggs and her fathers sperm to make a specific combination of genes. Her parents did it to save her sisters life. Excerpt [4] came from Anna’s dialog with Mr Alexander. She told Mr Alexander that she was born to be a donor for her sister, Kate. Anak pendonor? Those two translations were classified as acceptable Acc translations, because the translations passed Accurate and clear criteria. The translator 16 successfully delivered the message but it was not natural in the target language. In excerpt [3], the translation “aku direncanakan” is not natural. The movie viewers will find difficulties in grasping the meaning of the translated subtitle. Seeing the context, “aku direncanakan” should be changed into “kelahiranku direncanakan”. In excerpt [4], t he translation ‘anak pendonor’ was unnatural in this context in the target language. The audience in target language may think that what is meant is “anak seorang pendonor”. The researcher would like to recommend ‘pendonor’ for the target language subtitle.

3. Unacceptable Unacc

The percentage of unacceptable idiomatic expressions translations was 9.9 of the overall in the My Sister’s Keeper movie. Those two translation only had clear C criteria. It is understandable but did not have accurate and natural meaning based on the source language. The translations unsuccessfully delivered the meaning of the source language, because the translations had only passed one of three criteria.
