D. The Presentation of the Designed Set of Materials

The second question in the problem formulation dealt with the presentation of the designed set of materials. Therefore, after making revisions and improvements of the design, the writer presented the final version of the designed set of materials. This is the answer to the second question in the problem formulation. There were eight units developed in this design and the time allocation for each unit was 90 minutes. Furthermore, each unit had three sections, namely Setting the Context, Reading the Text, and Responding to the Text or Chapter. The topics, the sections, and subsections could be seen in the following tables: Table: 4.8: The topics, the Sections and Subsections of the Designed Set of Materials Unit Topic Section with its subsections 1 Expressing Love A. CHAPTER V CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS

This chapter consists of two sections, namely conclusions and suggestions. The first section presents the conclusion, which contains the answers to the questions stated in the problem formulation. The second section provides some suggestions for future researchers who want to conduct the same study, for the eleventh grade students of Tiga Maret Senior High School and for the English teachers Senior High Schools. The detailed conclusions and suggestions would be described below.

A. Conclusions

The purpose of this study is to design a set of English supplementary reading materials using intermediate English level novels for the eleventh grade students of Tiga Maret Senior High School. Thus, there are two problems identified here. The first problem deals with the process of designing a set of materials and the second problem deals with the presentation of the designed materials. To solve the first problem, the writer conducted two types of design: Pre- design and Post-design survey study. The purpose of pre-design survey was to find out the students’ needs, lacks and wants before designing the materials. By using this needs analysis, the writer designed the materials. The writer conducted post-design survey to gain feedback and evaluation from the respondents which were very helpful in presenting the final version of the designed materials. 76
