4.3 Existing of Rubber Plantation

From the result of Classification of plantation and validation using GPS, the rubber areas is about 53,892 ha and an oil palm areas is about 56,728 ha Figure 14. After plantation class for rubber existing has been determined. The next step was cropping to overlay union land suitability for rubber and existing of rubber plantation. The result of spatial analysis is shown in Figure 15. The highly suitable areas planted with rubber S1 rubber has the smallest area 17,342 ha or 1.6 from the total of land and moderately suitable areas planted with rubber S2 rubber about 34,494 ha or 3.2 from the total of land. The highly suitable area is the smallest, because many farmers use the land for planting other commodities such as oil palm, paddy field etc. 40 Figure 14 Plantation Existing in Banyuasin Regency Figure 15 Rubber Existing in Banyuasin Regency 41 Table 13 shows the existing condition of rubber trees on suitable area based on location of sub regency. From the result of spatial analysis, the largest area from total of existing rubber areas S1 in Banyuasin III Sub Regency is about 8,310 ha or 0.8 and for S2 in Banyuasin I Sub Regency about 24,684 ha or 2.3, then the smallest area from the total of existing rubber areas S1 in Rambutan Sub Regency about 4.24 ha or 0.0 and for S2 in Banyuasin III Sub Regency about 0.11 ha or 0.0. The smallest areas in Rambutan Sub Regency most of the land are due to converted of land to residential areas, shops and mixed garden.
