E. Data Analysis Technique
In this part, the writer would explain the design of supplementary English instructional vocabulary materials. There were three major sources which were
going to be analyzed, included:
1. Observation data analysis technique
In the observation, there were three 3 major points that the writer will be observed. The first point was the learner’s behavior in the classroom; include the
positive and negative result toward the learner’s behavior. The second point was the teacher’s way in carrying out the process of teaching; include the positive and
negative teacher’s way in carrying out the process of teaching. The third point was class facilities and supporting condition towards successful learning. All of the
results would be analyzed based on the data.
2. Questionnaire data analysis technique
There were pre-design and post-design questionnaire that would be used in this research. The results of pre-design data were used to decide what topics and
media for the designed materials. Second data were obtained from the respondents. It was used for the sake
of evaluation of the designed materials. The writer adopted descriptive statistics to assist her analyzing the data from respondents. Descriptive statistics were derived
from the questionnaires distributed to the respondents and they were in form of central tendencies: mean, median, and mode. In this study the writer used only
mean of the central tendency to determine the sum of all values since the median
and mode were perceived less significant for characterizing the respondents’ opinion value.
The writer used questionnaires with valued range 1 to 4, it was adopted from Likert scale Best, 1970:173. They were:
1 SD : Strongly Disagree 2 D : Disagree
3 A : Agree 4 SA : Strongly Agree
The first degree of agreement was 1 strongly disagreevery poor. It meant that the statements were rejected. It ranged from 1.00 to 1.99. The second
degree of agreement was 2 disagreepoor. It meant that the statements needed to be reorganized. It ranged from 2.00 to 2.99. The third degree of agreement was 3
agreegood. It meant that the statements needed minor revision. It ranged from 3.00 to 3.99. The last degree of agreement was 4 strongly agreevery good. It
meant that the statements needed no revision. The result of the respondent’s questionnaire for material evaluation can be illustrated in the table 3.4 below.

SD 1 D 2

N Mean
The Mean of this research study was presented in the scale from 1 to 4. The writer measured the assessment through this measurement.
X = ∑X N
X : the average point
∑X : the sum of all the scores N
: the number of respondents
