Indonesians English. In “Brain storming” section it would better to add more questions to lead the learners to the topic.

C. Discussions

This section discusses the process of designing the instructional materials. Before designing the materials the writer conducted needs analysis to find out what the learners’’ need. The writer distributed the questionnaire to guides and instructors in Banyu Sumilir. The writer also conducted interview to some of the respondents and the manager of Banyu Sumilir. The result of the needs analysis showed that the guides and instructors needed English that was related to their job. They needed to be able to communicate with foreign guests. They are responsible to give any information about Banyu Sumilir as clear as possible. The writer proposed some topics to learn. The writer used the result of the needs analysis to design the suitable materials. The writer developed the topics by considering what the learners needed. The writer tried to fulfill the learners need by providing communicative activities where the learners have lots of chances to practice their speaking ability. By the end of the course the learners were expected to be able to communicate with foreign guests using the target language. After designing the materials the writer distributed some questionnaires to an English teacher, English lecturers and also English instructors. The questionnaire was about the evaluations of the designed materials. The questionnaire consisted of two parts. In the first part the respondents gave their score based on their degree of agreements. The writer calculated the result of the questionnaire to find the mean, median and mode. The result of the survey was presented in table 4. The results showed that the average points were above 3, 5. It meant that the materials were acceptable. In the second part of the questionnaire the writer asked the respondents to give their suggestions. The writer agreed with the respondents suggestions and used them to revise and improve the materials. The writer made some improvement and revisions as follows: 1. Checking and correcting miss spelling and grammatical errors 2. Revising the font and layout in order to be more interesting 3. Giving clear instructions in every section 4. Revising the expressions in the dialogues to be more natural by consulting to a native speaker 5. Distinguishing the teacher’s book and the student’s book. 6. Using English expressions in “Today’s magic word” section 7. Making listening passages from the dialogues. 8. Adding the questions in “Brain storming” section.
