65 researcher identified that verb phrases were also used in the sentence headlines. The types of verb phrase used in the opinion column headlines of WSJ were a monotransitive verb, an intensive verb, and a simple present verb.

B. Recommendations

The researcher expects that this investigation would be beneficial for students who like writing, especially journalism. They can learn how to create the attractive headlines from the figurative language point of view without ignoring the syntactic features in the headlines. Besides journalism, the students can try to explore the types of figurative language and syntactic features and apply in another kind of writing, for example creative writing. However, the researcher realizes that this research needs an improvement to be better research which can give more contributions. The future researchers can explore more about the types of figurative language in other kinds of news in the newspaper, such as sport news and entertainment news. Besides, the future researchers can explore more the other types of figurative language in the other newspapers.
