In this first example, the substitution of transitions to join words in a sentence was presented. As mentioned by Langan 2011, transitions are used to stick together
the sentences. Using appropriate transitions, the sentenses will not sound too abrupt. The ideas will flow smoothly one after the other. The researcher,
therefore, gave a better revision for the example above. It was better to substitute
transition like for for example to give examples.
On the other hand, here was the example of omission of transition to combine sentences as well as the revision provided by the researcher:
The baby kangaroo is so tiny. Because that, the mother cannot touch it. see Appendix E, text 26
revision: The baby kangaroo is so tiny. Therefore, the mother cannot touch it.

This second example revealed the substitution of transitions to join sentences. To get the plausible sentence that signal cause and effect, the researcher considered to
substitute transition because that for therefore. c
Improper Place of Transitions
In the students’ report texts, the researcher found that some transitions were misplaced to combine sentences within paragraphs. The improper place of
transitions to link sentences were because, but, for example, once, and beside that
. These improper place of transitions occurred in a word group that lacked a subject or a verb and one that did not express a complete thought.
Here were an example of omission of transition to combine sentences within a paragraph and the revision formulated by the researcher:

A transition is used to link words even sentences. According to Langan 2011,
every sentence must have a subject and a verb and express a complete thought. In
the example, the transition because could not introduce a complete thought since
it was misplaced so it could not stand alone. On the other hand, the revision
provided by the researcher introduces a complete thought. The transition because
was placed correctly to link the sentences.
2 Omission of Connecting Words pronouns
The omission of connecting words pronouns in place of other words was
found in the students’ report texts. Those were it and they. It happened because

the students did not use pronouns to replace the words which is the central idea. Therefore, it produced over repetition of the words that sounded boring, as it can
be seen in the example below:
Many people like the dolphins very much. The dolphins are harmless, tame, and cute animals. The dolphins are not afraid to stay around people.
The dolphins are inteligent animals. The dolphins are able to count numbers and do some attractions. The dolphins can also help people see

This example introduced the omission of connecting words pronouns. The word dolphins was repeated over time and was not replaced with a pronoun.
The researcher provided a revision for the example above as follows:
Many people like the dolphins very much. They are harmless, tame, and cute animals. They are not afraid to stay around people. The
dolphins are inteligent animals. They are able to count numbers and do some attractions. They can also help people.
According to Langan 2011, pronouns are another way to connect ideas in which
using pronouns in place of other words can avoid repetition. The word dolphins could be replaced with pronoun they in order to avoid over repetition of dolphins.
