Since the data are the socio-political news relating to corruption scandals in Indonesia, CDA approach helps to be a bridge over the framing of
intertextuality within discourse analysis then the subjectivity is produced. MacLachlan and Reid 1994: 4 states that intertextuality refers to the discourse
realization of linguistic features of the text internal element of the text itself and simplified in the context or the situation beyond interdisciplinarity external
situation of text production. Meanwhile, linguistic features of text tend to be objective and are analyzed in the angels of Systemic Functional Linguistic
SFL. The meta-functional language of interpersonal, ideational and textual in SFL tends to find out the lexico-grammatical and semantic meaning. In the
searching of what should be criticized, the subjectivity is the aim of CDA. It has to find out the dialectical relationship between semiosis including language and
other elements of social practice Fairclough, 1995. SFL and CDA are having a connection to each other. Halliday
‘s SFL is used in the Fairclough
‘s CDA. Fairclough 2003 determines the relationship between language and other elements and aspects of social life, also its approach
to the linguistic analysis of texts is always oriented to the social character of texts. Young and Harrison 2004: 1-6 clarifies three relations between SFL and
CDA. First, language is the social construction. Second, the dialectic process in language happen in where language gives impact to the contexts and the

contexts give impact to the language production. Third, SFL and CDA focuses on the cultural and historical acts of meaning making. In conclusion,
SFL can be used to strengthen the findings into an explanation of CDA so that ideological bias is removed.

second, Sutan Bathoegana as the former head of the House of Representatives Commission VII overseeing energy and the Democratic Party cofounder.

3.3 Data Analysis
Textual analysis is better able than other methods to capture sociocultural processes in the course of their occurrence. The need for discourse analysis is
able to map systematic analyses of spoken or written texts onto systematic analyses of social contexts Fairclough, 2010: 187. Media texts do indeed
function ideologically in social control and social reproduction; but they also operate as the economy, political, socio-cultural commodities in a competitive
market as a part of the business of entertaining people. They are designed to keep people politically and socially informed. They are treated as cultural
artifacts in their own right. Since the data are a news article, the information is from one-way
communication which is re-articulated by the media. This research intends to examine news text involving corruption context so that the article can be reliable
sources for readers to be believed as a rhetorical statement. To analyze the data, the researcher employ
s Bhaskar‘s five stages of explanatory critique which has been adopted by Fairclough in examining Tony
Blair‘s speech Woodak, 2001. First, the selection of research topic ‗KPK and Indonesia Corruption
‘ and the construction of research object ‗Suryadharma Ali and Sutan Batoeghana
‘ related to the social wrong of ‗weakening KPK‘ is chosen. After that, the SFG analysis of transitivity types of process and
