The improvement of the test in Cycle I and Cycle II is 13.8. From the results of the observation and the two tests, it can be summarized that comic strips are effective to improve students speaking skills.

B. Implications

Based on the discussion of the research, it can be implied that comic strips can be used to improve students’ speaking skills. The implications of the actions are as follows. 1. The use of comic strips could improve students’ motivation and involvement during the teaching and learning process. It is because the use of comic strips in the teaching and learning process could increase students’ enthusiasm. This implies that the teacher needs to use comic strips in order to improve students’ motivation and active involvement in the teaching and learning process. 2. The use of comic strips could improve students’ speaking skills in terms of, fluency, grammatical accuracy, pronunciation accuracy, and vocabulary. It was because the use of comic strips could be used as models for the students in using certain expressions or sentences in certain situations. In addition, the comic strips were also accompanied by some activities enabling students to practice the expressions they had learnt from the comic strips in the different conditions. This implies that the teacher needs to use comic strips in order to improve students’ speaking skills. 3. Based on the reflections of the actions, it could be seen that there were some successful and unsuccessful actions in the use of comic strips in the teaching and learning process. This implies that the researcher needs to provide more varied comic strips and activities to enhance students’ speaking skills to improve the teaching ability.

C. Suggestions

After conducting the research, the researcher proposed some suggestions for the English teacher, students and other researchers. The suggestions are as follows. 1. For the English teacher It is important for the English teacher, especially the English teachers in SMP N 3 Mertoyudan to improve students’ speaking skills. The teacher needs to develop their speaking skills and create an enjoyable classroom atmosphere in the classroom, so that the students will be motivated to learn. It can be done by using comic strips accompanied by some activities enabling students to develop their speaking skills. 2. For the students The students should be more active to practice English, especially in speaking. In this case, comic strips can be one of the alternative media to practice speaking since comic strips allows them to see the use of of some particular expressions or sentences in certain contexts.
