Input Text Recount is a text which retells events or experiences in the past. A recount text consists of: Part 1: Orientation It provides the background information of the story and answers the questions What?Who?When?Where?Why? Part 2: Events It tells the what happened chronologically. It usually uses conjunctions like: first, next,then,finally and so on. Part 3: Reorientation optional It presents the concluding comments and expresses our feelings about the experience. Language Features of Recount Texts 1. A recount text uses mainly 1st person pronouns I or We. e.g. my family and I spent one night at the countryside. 2. A recount text usesconjunctions to put the events in order. e.g. First, Then, After that, Next, Finally. 3. A recount text uses past tenses. Past tenses tell us about past activities. In past tenses, we have to use verb 2.
