2.76. Meanwhile, the decreased meaning has 13 cases or 8.97. Then, the meanings of the translations which are not equivalent are categorized into the
low degree of meaning equivalence. It is further divided into two categorizations, i.e. different meaning and zero meaning. The different
meaning has the frequency of 13 or 8.97 and zero meaning occurs in 30 cases or 20.68.
2. Related to the second objective, the translations of the English idiomatic
expressions in the Bahasa Indonesia subtitling text mostly have equivalent meanings with the source language text. It is marked by the number of high
degree of meaning equivalence which has more than a half of total occurrences. It indicates that the translator maintains the meanings of the
English idiomatic expressions and their translations. As a result, the target viewers of the Bahasa Indonesia subtitling text have same interpretation as
the meaning of English movie text.
B. Suggestions
After conducting this research, the researcher proposes some suggestions as follows:
1. To the movie subtitlers
Idiomatic expressions are language terms which are specific to culture and peculiar to language. In addition, they are very difficult to translate
equivalently in terms of meaning. Hence, the subtitlers or translators should have deep understanding about idiomatic expressions of both the source
language and the target language in order to make successful translation of idiomatic expressions. The translator should notice the context in order to
produce the optimal result of the translation which remains equivalent and natural. During translating process, the translator also transfer the meanings
of the source language text into the target language text as accurately as possible. It will be important and beneficial for the audiences to catch the
messages easily. 2.
To the other researchers There are many aspects of the idiomatic expressions which are interesting to
be studied, such as the translation techniques, form realization of idioms, and etc. Therefore, it is a good opportunity for other researchers to examine a
further study, especially in exploring the idiomatic expressions. However, the researchers should find the appropriate movie which provides the sufficient
and credible data. 3.
To translation students It is important for the translation students to acknowledge the phenomena of
translation, especially the phenomenon of meaning equivalence. Therefore, the researcher suggests other translation students to conduct a study in
translation especially on meaning equivalence which is one of the keys of successful translation.
4. To the lecturers
This research is expected to give additional and beneficial knowledge about the meaning accuracy of idiomatic expressions. Moreover, the research also
provides adequate examples of idiomatic expressions in daily life.
