LESSON PLAN UNIT 4 Food Writing Analytical Exposition Text Subject : English Grade Semester : XI 1 Meeting : Time allocation : 4X 45’ Competence Standard : At the end of the course, the students are able to reveal the meaning of short functional text and simple essay report, narrative, analytical exposition in daily context. Basic Competence : To reveal the meaning and rhetorical step in essay using vorious written language accurately, fluently, and acceptably in daily context in the form of analytical exposition. Indicators : ƒ Students are able to ask their friend about certain topic ƒ Students are able to decide the generic structure of an analytical exposition text ƒ Students are able to make an outline about certain topic. ƒ Students are able to make draft of analytical exposition ƒ Students are able to give comments, suggestion, and correction of their friend’s work ƒ Students are able to revise their composition

B. Learning Material Analytical Exposition Text

Analytical Exposition Text is a kind of text a text that elaborates the writer‘s idea about the phenomenon surrounding. It aims at persuading the reader that the writer’s idea is important. The generic structure:

1. Thesis Æ Introducing the topic and indicating the writer’s position

2. Arguments ÆExplaining the arguments to support the writer’s position

3. Reiteration Æ Restating the writer’s position

Language Features of Analytical Exposition • Using words that link arguments e.g: firstly, however, on the other hand • Using causal conjunction e.g: therefore, because, due to • Using Simple Present Tense
