Dibimbing oleh KIAGUS DAHLAN. Hydroxyapatite
merupakan salah satu biomaterial yang banyak digunakan untuk implantasi tulang karena bersifat bioaktif dan biokompatibel. Untuk
meningkatkan sifat bioaktif dan biokompatibel pada pertumbuhan hidroksiapatit, maka digunakan bahan alami sebagai sumber kalsium. Pada penelitian ini, bahan
yang digunakan sebagai sumber kalsium adalah cangkang keong sawah. Cangkang keong sawah yang dihasilkan dari proses perebusan, pembersihan, dan
pengeringan, dikalsinasi pada suhu 800 C selama 3 jam untuk dijadikan serbuk.
Serbuk tersebut diidentifikasi fase kalsium dan kadar kalsium yang terkandung dengan X-Ray diffraction dan atomic absorbption spektroskopi. Hasil analisis
menunjukkan bahwa fase kalsium cangkang keong sawah adalah CaOH
2
dengan kadar kalsium sebesar 52,12 . Sintesis hydroxyapatite dilakukan dengan metode
presipitasi dengan meneteskan larutan H
3
PO
4
pada larutan kalsium. Selanjutnya dilakukan proses pengeringan 110
C ditambah sintering 900 C. Perbandingan
konsentrasi kalsium dan fosfat yang digunakan yaitu konsentasi kalsium 0,5 M dan 1M dengan fosfat 0,3M dan 0,6M. Hasil sintesis dianalisis dengan X-ray
diffractometer dan Fourier transform infrared. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa
hydroxyapatite terbentuk pada sampel.
