positive correlation with the all of processing items. It means that cassava procurement is a key to keep all processing smooth and best operation. Again it
must be thought a common issue together with cassava producer. Regarding this issue, variety development is another aspect to provide much benefit to both two
producers. Secondary, the processing of washing and smashing has positive
correlation with sieving and sedimentation, waste handling, sun drying, and marketing. The point is smashing, not washing, which produces a better recovery
of processing and very fine particle of starch. Aci producer uses drum- type of smashing device covered by metal plate
which should be replaced into new plate in a few months. If not, quality and recovery are dropped. In 1997 to 2000 FAO regional office supported the
development of processing equipment in Uganda. Such research and development of smashing device may provide much better benefit to Aci producer in Indonesia.
1. Cassava procurement
Cassava procurement is the most important. This is a key to keep Aci in good quality related to the requireme nt by Aci producer Relationship. Because
cassava is very perishable, it must be processed as soon as possible after harvested. In the target area, for instance, postharvest of cassava is treated with 1 peeling

Relationship . The smashing is quite important to gain a fine particle of starch. SSTA uses a dram type smashing device which is consisting of wooden dram and
bronze metal plate driven by diesel engine. By such device, 1 they always pay attention on the metal plate which is wearing out according to the time spent for
48 smashing operation, and 2 it should be replace into a new one to keep a good
smashing which lasts about one month. Smashing is a strong correlation with cassava procurement and sieving
sedimentation. Sieving processing should be paid more attention from aspect of Aci quality Correlation.
3. Sieving Sedimentation
Sieving and Sedimentation is the fifth ranking. Since a simple dynamic sieving device Ayakan has been introducing in SSTA and sieving processing is

In the process of sie ving, fiber and some amount of starch are retained in the sieving cloth and these become a by-product after dry so called “Ampas”
which a raw material for food industry and mosquito coil industry.
