smashing which lasts about one month. Smashing is a strong correlation with cassava procurement and sieving
sedimentation. Sieving processing should be paid more attention from aspect of Aci quality Correlation.
3. Sieving Sedimentation
Sieving and Sedimentation is the fifth ranking. Since a simple dynamic sieving device Ayakan has been introducing in SSTA and sieving processing is
more important subject Relationship because sieving and sedimentation has a very positive correlation with cassava procurement and washing smashing
Correlation. For these operations, water quality is critically important to produce a
good quality of Aci. The water source in the target area is mostly well supplying a clean water by use of water pump. Consequently, the Aci produced by SSTA is
better quality, but problem is happened in dry season when the water level is dropped lower in the well.
In the process of sie ving, fiber and some amount of starch are retained in the sieving cloth and these become a by-product after dry so called “Ampas”
which a raw material for food industry and mosquito coil industry.
4. Waste Handling
Waste handling and grinding and packing are the lowest ranking in importance. The waste is concerned a small subject because SSTA processes
white cassava of which skin and tuber end are treated at cassava producer. The fiber is treated as by-product of Aci which is sold to the food industry and
mosquito coil industry Relationship . Waste handling is the last ranking because of raw material of cassava
which is treated as white cassava before supply to Aci producer. This is a good system to minimize waste at SSTA Correlation.
5. Sun Drying
Sun drying is the forth ranking, but it is very significant of Aci quality in terms of whiteness, moldy smell, and moisture particularly in rainy season
49 Relationship . Sun drying is strongly correlated to cassava procurement and
marketing Aci, but it is depended on weather good for drying or not Correlation. Due to the relationship, sun drying should be done carefully taking
account weather condition to judge the cassava procurement and the timing of processing operation. The price of Aci is varied according to the days spent for
sun drying i.e., 1 half day drying: the best, 2 one day drying: the second best, 3 two-day drying: less quality, and 4 tree-day drying: lesser quality.
6. Pulverizing Packing
Pulverizing has a medium relationship to contaminant and variety of cassava. Aci is grinded by use of metal grid plate and hand. If any contaminant,
pulverizing process can not sieve it out. This is the last stage of processing Aci and its quality is strongly related to cassava variety. Grinding packing has a
very positive correlation with cassava procurement and marketing Aci Correlation.
Most of SSTA in the target area do not apply grinding process, but supply dried Aci without grinding to tapioca producer. Some of them use a wire net plate
or wooden spool to grind the dried Aci by hand. It produces rather find particle of Aci.
7. Marketing of Aci
Marketing of Aci is the second important in relationship, and is mostly addressed to tapioca producer. Their concern is Aci quality to sell or to buy upon
its quality such as whiteness, smell, and moisture content Relationship. Marketing of Aci is correlated to cassava procurement, sun drying, and
grinding packing in very strong. It means that these three processing items are of importance to supply good quality Aci to tapioca producer and other home
industry Correlation. Marketing factor is critically important for SSTA, but most of them supply
Aci directly to tapioca producer. Since the quality is almost same as quality of tapioca flour except moisture content, market development is seemed to be very
feasible including Ampas.
