1. The teacher gives the class a lead-in task consisting of
five open-ended questions Task 1 of Appendix 2. Then, all the class members together with the teacher
discuss the answer to the questions 10 minutes.
2. The teacher gives the students a list of words related to the next activity and asks them to match each word with
its meaning in pairs. Task 2 of Appendix 2 15 minutes.
3. The teacher divides the students into small groups of four or five and distibutes a series of pictures to each
group. Based on the picture sequences, the students have to make predictions to answer some questions that
follow Task 3 of Appendix 2 15 minutes.
Modelling of the Text
MOT 4. The teacher gives the students a recount text related to
the previous activity Task 4 of Appendix 2. Then, the teacher and the students review the accuracy of the
predictions that the students made in Activity 3 with the text 15 minutes.
5. The teacher guides the students to identify the social function, the generic structure, and the language
features of the text in Activity 4 Appendix 1. Then, the teacher gives the students homework Task 5 of
Appendix 2 related to the language features of the text in Activity 4, especially about connectives 10 minutes.
c. Closing Activities 10 minutes:
The teacher asks about the students’ difficulties during the teaching and
learning process. The teacher summarizes the lesson.
The teacher asks a student to lead a prayer. The teacher says good bye.

group. The teacher gives each group a worksheet Task 6 of Appendix 2 to find the meaning of words in a
table. Those words are taken from a text that they are going to discuss in the next activity 15 minutes.
8. The teacher shows the groups presentation slides Task 7 of Appendix 2 and tells them that they are going to
have a discussion about the content of a recount text entitled ‘It’s Only Me’. Then, the teacher explains that
the discussion consists of three stages, namely predicting
the content of the recount text; reading the content of the recount text; and confirming the
predictions that have been made. After that, the teacher distributes a Prediction Verification Checklist Task 8
of Appendix 2 to the groups to be filled during the discussion process 5 minutes.
9. The teacher lead the discussion and shows the groups
presentation slides Task 7 of Appendix 2. Then, the teacher shows the title of the text slide 1 and has the
groups predict what the text will be about by writing down the prediction on the Prediction Verification
Checklist
. The teacher guides the prediction making through questions, the title of the text and the picture
that the text contains. After that, the teacher asks each group to mention their predictions and write them down
on the whiteboard. After that, the teacher asks the groups to read the first part of the text slide 2. Then,
the teacher and the groups decide which predictions are accurate based on the information from the part of the
text. This activity continues until the groups finish reading the text. Finally, the teacher and the groups
conclude the discussion 25 minutes.
