CHAPTER IV RESEARCH RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS
In this chapter, the researcher presents and discusses the results of the questionnaire and interview in order to answer the two formulated questions in
this study. The discussions have two main sections. First, the data presentation contains the data frequency and the percentages of data group. Second, the data
analysis and the data interpretation.
A. Data Presentation
This section presents the data gathered. It includes the data frequency and the percentages of data group. The further explanation about the data frequency
and the percentages of data group is explained as follows:
1. Data Frequency Distribution
In this part, the researcher present the data gathered in the form of summary of the frequency distribution. The frequency distribution covered all
item of the questionnaire which was distributed to the 30 students. The data were based on the respondents’ response on the questionnaire distributed. In addition,
the result of data frequency distribution could be seen in the Appendix I p. 134 .
2. Data Percentage Distribution
In this part, the researcher present the data percentage distribution. This percentage distribution was obtained from the questionnaire. From the data which
were summarized in the percentage form, then the researcher computed the mean
52 in each category in order to know whether the category was considered as a
positive or negative response. The positive criterion was based on the mean of 2.5 – 4. Meanwhile, the negative criterion was based on the mean of 1 – 2.4. The
result of the data percentage distribution can be seen in the Appendix I p. 134.
B. Data Analysis and Interpretation
In order to answer the first research question, the researcher presents the result firstly per part by computing the mean of each part in this section. The
researcher also divided the statements of the questionnaire into three parts: students’ background related to the general information, the implementation of
Edmodo, and the students’ perception on the use of Edmodo in writing descriptive
text. The further information of the mean computation can be seen in Appendix J p. 140. After that, the researcher tried to interpret per item in each category
based on the data which are summarized in the percentage form. This research analysis and interpretation were based on the data acquired from the questionnaire
distributed and also supported by the result of the interview. Then, the researcher presents the data which is gained from the interview
in order to answer the second research question about how Edmodo helps the students in developing their writing skills. Furthermore, the researcher analyzed
the data in a form of descriptive analysis. Moreover, the researcher also described what the researcher had obtained from the observa
tion towards the students’ actions in using Edmodo in writing descriptive text. The observation is used to
complete and clarify the data from the interview.
