68 of the students who disagreed and 30 who strongly disagreed. Therefore, the
total percentage of the agreement level was only 20 and the total percentage of the disagreement level was 80. Based on the result, it could be seen that most of
the students agreed to use Edmodo in learning process. This result had a relation with the previous statement that most of the students agreed to use Edmodo in
learning English. In order to crosscheck the answer, the researcher interviewed six students and the result showed that Student 1, 4, and 19 said that Edmodo was
good. Edmodo was easy to be understood. Edmodo was simple and also easy to use. Besides that, Student 29 also said that Edmodo was good, especially for
learning English because the students could be monitored by the teacher. Based on the result of the interview, 4 students agreed that Edmodo was
good for learning English. However, two of them disagreed with those opinions. They said that Edmodo was not really good because not all the students and the
teacher were online every time. The result of the questionnaire and interview were true, it was proven by the researcher
’s observation in the timeline that not all the students online all that time.
Item 25. I often access Edmodo more than 3 times a week.
In the statement 25, the researcher found that the total percentage of the agreement level was only 16.7 and the total percentage of the disagreement
level was about 83.3. None of the students strongly agreed and only 16.7 agreed. Most of the students disagreed with the statement, 33.3 of the students
disagreed and 50 strongly disagreed. Based on the result, it showed that most of the students did not access Edmodo more than 3 times a week even in the
69 previous statement they agreed to use Edmodo in learning English. In the previous
statement, especially in statement 14 showed that most of the students could not get connection to internet easily and it could be one of the factors why the
students did not access Edmodo more than three times a week.
Item 26. I believe that Edmodo is easy to use.
The result of the statement 26 presented that 23.3 of the students strongly agreed and 66.7 agreed that Edmodo was easy to use. Meanwhile, there
were only 10 of the students who disagreed and none of them who strongly disagreed. Therefore, the total percentage of the agreement level was 90 and the
total percentage of the disagreement level was only 10. Since the total percentage of the agreement level was high, it meant that the students had a
positive response towards the statement. It was also proven with the result of the interview which showed that all of the students said that Edmodo was very easy to
be used even though Edmodo could be something which was new for them. The result of the interview also showed that all of the students said that the steps of
implementing Edmodo could be followed easily. Because the use of Edmodo was easy, after having their own account, they directly tried to use some features in
Edmodo. They commented to their friends’ writing products and the assignment which was given by the teacher could be submitted easily by the students using
Edmodo.
Item 27. I believe that Edmodo is an interesting educational website.
The result of the statement 27 showed that 23.3 of the students strongly agreed and 50 agreed that Edmodo was an interesting educational website.
70 However, there were 26.7 of the students who disagreed and none of the
students who strongly disagreed with the statement. The total percentage of the agreement level was 73.3 and the total percentage of the disagreement level was
only 26.7. It could be concluded that most of the students believed that Edmodo was an interesting educational website especially for learning English. This
phenomenon happened because all the students worked cooperatively in using Edmodo. They used Edmodo actively in order to get some information from their
teacher or also shared to each other.
Item 28. I can communicate with my teacher easily using Edmodo.
The result of this statement showed that 16.7 of the students strongly agreed and 80 agreed that they can communicate with their teacher easily using
Edmodo. Meanwhile, there were only 3.3 or one student who disagreed and none of them who strongly disagreed with the statement. Therefore, the total
result of the agreement level was 96.7 and the total result of the disagreement level was only 3.3. It could be seen that most of the students agreed that they
can communicate with their teacher easily using Edmodo. It meant that using Edmodo made them easier to talk or share with their teacher even they did not
meet directly. It was also proven by the result of the interview from student 1 and 26, they agreed that Edmodo helped them to communicate or to ask some
questions with their teacher. Student 1 said that because of Edmodo, he could communicate with friends or teacher easily. Then, Student 26 said that if there
was a difficult question, he could ask to the teacher or friends by using Edmodo. By using Edmodo, the students asked to their teacher related to the assignment
71 which was not clearly understood and also asked about something else that they
did not know even they were not in the same places. Therefore, they could finish their work easily.
Item 29. I can communicate with my friends easily using Edmodo.
The result of the statement 29 showed that 10 of the students strongly agreed and 50 agreed that they could communicate with friends easily using
Edmodo. However, there were 20 of the students who disagreed and 20 who strongly disagreed. Based on the data, the result of the agreement level was 60
and the result of the disagreement level was 40. It could be concluded that 60 of the students or about 18 students agreed and 40 or about 12 students
disagreed that that they could communicate with their friends using Edmodo easily. The twelfth students disagreed that they could communicate with their
friend using Edmodo because maybe they felt that their friends were not online every time so that they could not communicate with their friend easily.
In order to re-check and clarify the data obtained from the questionnaire, the researcher interviewed some students. The interview result showed that
Student 14 said that Edmodo was good because he could give a comment in his friends’ work and then he could share to each other. According to student 14’s
opinion, it could be seen that student 14 agreed that he could communicate and share with his friends by using Edmodo. However, student 26 had different
opinion from student 14; he said that he could not always communicate with his friends all the time. He said that at the beginning, Edmodo could work well but in
the next time he used Edmodo and asked about the material for the final test there
72 were nobody answered his question. So, he thought that sometimes Edmodo was
online and offline. Based on the result gained from the questionnaire and interview, it could be concluded that there were some students who were online
all the time even they did not have any assignment and then there were some students who were online only when they had assignment to be done and
submitted.
Item 30. I believe that Edmodo makes me easier to learn English.
The result of this statement showed that 6.7 of the students strongly agreed and 76.7 agreed that Edmodo made them easier to learn English.
Meanwhile there were 13.3 of the students who disagreed and 3.3 who strongly disagreed with the statement. Based on the data, it could be seen that the
total percentage of the agreement level was 83.4 and the total percentage of the disagreement level was only 16.6. It meant that most of the students had
positive response and believed that Edmodo helped them easier to learn English. This statement was related with the previous statement, if there was something
which could not be understood, they could ask to their friends or also their teacher directly. Therefore, they could learn English easily because by using Edmodo they
could share their opinion to each other. Item 31. I believe that Edmodo is an effective educational website in order to
help me in writing descriptive text.
The result of the statement 31 presented that 26.7 of the students strongly agreed and 60 agreed that Edmodo was an effective educational
website in order to help them in writing descriptive text. Meanwhile, there were
73 13.3 of the students who disagreed and none of them who strongly disagreed
with the statement. Therefore, the total percentage of the agreement level was 86.7 and the total percentage of the disagreement level was only 13.3. Based
on the result of the data, it meant that most of the students believed that Edmodo was an effective educational website in order to help them in writing descriptive
text. By using Edmodo, most of the students could make a good writing then they had to write their work in a paper. After having the feedbacks from the teacher
and also some suggestions from their friends, they did not need to write twice in order to revise it because they could edit it so that they had a better writing.
Item 32. I am happy using Edmodo for writing descriptive text.
The result of this statement showed that 20 of the students strongly agreed and 63.4 agreed that they were happy using Edmodo for writing
descriptive text. However, there were 13.3 of the students who disagreed and 3.3 who strongly disagreed with the statement. The total percentage of the
agreement level was 83.4 and the total percentage of the disagreement level was 16.6. It could be seen that most of the students were happy even there were
some students who were not happy using Edmodo for writing descriptive text. In order to clarify the result obtained from the questionnaire, the researcher
interviewed six students. The result of the interview was almost same as the result of the questionnaire. There were four students consisted of Student 19, 4, 26, 29
who were happy and two students consisted of Student 1 and 14 who were not happy. The result of the interview showed that Student 19 said that she was happy
because Edmodo was fun. Then, Student 4 said that she was happy because there
74 were many friends who look at her writing about descriptive text then they could
give a suggestion and she could be more motivated to be better. Student 29 said that she was happy because she could give comments to each other.
Those were the results of the interview from the students who agreed that they were happy using Edmodo for writing descriptive text. However, there were
2 students who disagreed towards that statement. Student 1 and 14 said that Edmodo was just so-so. Based on the result gained from the questionnaire and
interview, it could be seen that some of the students were considered as the students who were interested to learn English by using Edmodo so that they felt
happy to use Edmodo even though Edmodo was still new for them. On the other hand, some of the students who were not happy to use Edmodo in learning
English were considered as the students who were not really interested in learning English by using Edmodo.
Item 33. I believe that Edmodo makes me easier to do my assignment in writing descriptive text.
The result of this statement showed that 16.7 of the students strongly agreed and 83.3 agreed that Edmodo made them easier to do their assignment in
writing descriptive text. None of the students disagreed or strongly disagreed with the statement. Based on the result of the data, the total percentage of the
agreement level was 100. Since the agreement level was high, it could be concluded that the students had a positive response and it meant that they believed
that Edmodo made them easier to do their assignment in writing descriptive text. It was also proven from Student 19 who said that her assignment could be simpler
75 and could be finished faster than she had to write in a paper. Moreover, if there
was an incorrect vocabulary she could correct it. This belief occurred because by using Edmodo, most of the students finished their works on time. They were
excited to do their assignment in writing because after they submitted their works they got some feedbacks from their teacher and also some suggestions from their
friends that could make their writing better than before.
Item 34. My teacher always gives feedbackcorrection for my assignment.
The result of statement 34 presented that 43.3 of the students strongly agreed and 50 agreed that their teacher always gives feedbackcorrection for
their assignment. However, there were only 6.7 of the students who disagree and none of them who strongly disagree. Based on the result, the total percentage
of the agreement level was 93.3 and the total percentage of the disagreement level was only 6.7. Therefore, it could be seen that most of the students agreed
that their teacher always gives feedback or correction for their assignment. The feedbacks given by the teacher were very helpful for the students. After they got
the feedbacks, they directly corrected their work so that their writing could be
better than before. Item 35. My friends always give suggestion on my writing especially in
writing descriptive text.
The result of the last statement in this category presented that 3.3 of the students strongly agreed and 20 agreed with the statement. Meanwhile, there
were 50 of the students who disagreed and 26.7 strongly disagreed that their friends always give suggestion on their writing especially in descriptive text. The
76 total percentage of the agreement level was only 23.3 and the total percentage of
the disagreement level was 76.6. Since the agreement level was low it considered that the students had a negative response towards the statement. It
meant that most of the students did not agree that their friends always give suggestion in their writing. In order to re-check the result of the data, the
researcher observed the students’ writing in Edmodo and most of the students only commented on the ot
her students’ work without giving any suggestion on it. However, there were only some students who gave suggestion in other students’
work. That was all the result that the researcher obtained from the questionnaire
which was in a form of close-ended question, some interviews and direct observations. In order to enrich the data about the implementation of Edmodo in
writing descriptive text, the researcher also used one question in a form of open- ended question. The result is explained in Table 4.3.

Based on the data gained from the open-ended question related to the implementation of Edmodo in writing descriptive text, it showed that 70 of the
students found some difficulties in implementing Edmodo in writing descriptive text and only 30 who did not find any difficulties in implementing Edmodo for
writing descriptive text. Moreover, most of the students who found the difficulties when they were implementing Edmodo were related to the internet connection.
Some of them also said that the display layout in Edmodo was not really interesting and some words that could not be understood because the language
used in Edmodo was using English and it could not be changed. However, some of the students did not find any difficulties when they were implementing Edmodo
for writing descriptive text because Edmodo was easy to be used, beside that they could share each other and gave suggestion to each other to correct their work to
78 be better. Even though there were many students who found difficulties in
implementing Edmodo, the result showed that most of the students were enjoy and happy to use Edmodo in learning English. They had a positive response
toward the implementation of Edmodo in writing descriptive text because there were other factors which supported the implementation of Edmodo which was
explained in the close-ended question.
