1. Students’ perception on the use of Edmodo in writing descriptive text.

a. Part A - Students’ background related to the general information.

Based on the data obtained from the questionnaire, the mean of the students’ background is 3.1. It meant that the students had a positive background. As stated in Chapter II, Lindsay and Norman 1977 state that perception is the process by which organism interpreting and organizing sensation to produce a meaningful experience of the world as cited in Pickens, 2005, p. 52. The person interprets the stimuli into something meaningful to them based on prior experiences. T he questionnaire’s data were present in Table 4.1. Table 4.1 The Students’ Background Related to the General Information Questions Scale Cumulative Percentages SD D A SA 1 20 80 100 2 3.3 6.7 60 30 100 3 43.3 46.7 10 100 4 40 53.3 6.7 100 5 6.7 33.3 50 10 100 6 30 46.7 23.3 100 7 10 13.3 36.7 40 100 8 20 80 100 9 10 70 13.3 6.7 100 10 20 80 100 11 53.3 46.7 100 12 23.3 76.7 100 13 20 80 100 14 20 40 40 100 15 13.3 86.7 100 16 13.3 86.7 100 17 70 30 100 18 70 23.3 6.7 100 19 23.3 76.7 100 54 Item 1. I believe that learning English is important for me. The result of the first statement showed that 80 of the students strongly agreed and 20 agreed with the statement that learning English was important. Meanwhile, none of the students disagreed and strongly disagreed with the statement. Therefore, the total percentage of the agreement level was 100. It means that, all the students realized that learning English was important for them. This belief occurred because the respondents realized that the use of English was needed to face the globalization era; people used English in order to communicate to each other. Item 2. I believe that learning English is fun. The result of the second statement presented that 30 of the students strongly agreed and 60 agreed with statement that learning English was fun. There were only 6.7 of the students disagreed and 3.3 strongly disagreed with the statement. The total percentage of the agreement level was 90 and the total percentage of the disagreement level was 10. It could be seen that most of the students agreed that learning English is fun. This phenomenon occurred because the students were very interested in joining the class activity when they were learning English. It was proven by their action that they could receive the discussion or the explanation from their teacher easily. Item 3. I am not interested in learning English. Then, the third statement showed that none of the students chose strongly agreed and only 10 chose agreed toward the statement. Most of the students disagreed that they were not interested in learning English; it was proven by 55 46.7 of the students disagreed and 43.3 strongly disagreed with the statement. Therefore, the total percentage of the agreement level was 10 and the total percentage of the disagreement level was 90. It could be concluded that most of the students were interested in learning English. Actually, this statement was related to the Item 2. In the previous statement, it is clearly explained that the students agreed that learning English was fun because they were interested to learn English. Item 4. I often learn English more than 3 hours in a day. The result of the fourth statement presented that none of the students chose strongly agree and only 6.7 who chose agree. Meanwhile, there were 53.3 of the students disagreed and 40 strongly disagreed with the statement. Moreover, the total percentage of the agreement level was only 6.7 and the total percentage of the disagreement level was 93.3. It means that most of the students did not really agree that they often learn English more than 3 hours in a day. This phenomenon occurred because in English subject they only had three meetings and five hours in a week, so that they did not learn English every day. Most of them learn English in the day before they have the meeting. Item 5. I am interested in writing English. The fifth statement showed that 10 of the students strongly agreed and 50 agreed that they were interested in learning English. However, there were 33.3 of the students who disagreed and 6.7 strongly disagreed with the statement. The total percentage of the agreement level was 60 and the total percentage of the disagreement level was 40. It could be seen that some of them
