94 teacher’s feedbacks were very significant in developing the students’ writing
skills. In order to answer the second research question of this research which was
about how the Edmodo helped the students in developing their writing skills, the researcher interviewed six students and observed the respondents when they were
using Edmodo in writing descriptive text. The data gained from the interview showed that all of the students said that Edmodo helped them to develop their
skills in writing descriptive text. They could develop their writing by giving suggestion to each other so that it made their writing better. Student 4 said that
Edmodo was helpful for her. For example, she wanted to write one apple, she did
not need to add s in the word of apple but if she wanted to write some apple she should add s in the word of apple. Student 26 also said that Edmodo was helpful
enough. For example, if he wanted to say one apple he should say an apple not a apple
. Then, Student 29 also said that Edmodo was helpful. When she had an assignment in Edmodo, she got some comments from her teacher or her friends so
that it developed her assignment about writing descriptive text. In fact, the students successfully made a better writing by using Edmodo than they only made
a writing assignment in the paper. Based on those results, it could be concluded that using Edmodo in writing
descriptive text was very helpful for the students in developing their writing skills. Students needed more practices to make a good writing project. In order to make a
good writing, students needed to revise their writing not only at once but revised it repeatedly. Moreover, students needed the other suggestions in order to develop
95 their writing skills, therefore the suggestions and feedbacks from the teacher and
the other friends were very important in order to develop their writing skills.

CHAPTER V CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
In this chapter, the researcher provides the conclusions related to the study and also recommendations. The conclusions of the study are drawn based on the
results and the discussions on the data gained to answer the research questions. The recommendations are given to the students, the English teachers, and also the
future researchers.
A. Conclusions
Based on the analysis on the data gained and the discussion on the results, there are two main research results. The conclusions of this study are drawn based
on the research results. The first result is related to the first research problem on the
students’ perception on the use of Edmodo in writing descriptive text. Then, the second result is related to the how Edmodo helps the students in developing
their writing skills. According to the
students’ response on the implementation of Edmodo, the researcher found that most of the students had a positive response towards the
implementation of Edmodo in writing descriptive text. Most of the students were interested to use Edmodo in learning English especially in writing descriptive text.
It is proven by the result obtained from the data that the students are happy when they are using Edmodo for writing descriptive text. Moreover, the students believe
97 that Edmodo is easy to use even Edmodo is still new for them; they said that the
procedure about the use of Edmodo can be followed easily. Regarding to the first research problem, it was found that most of the
students had a positive perception on the use of Edmodo in writing descriptive text. The Edmodo was a medium used for the students to submit and publish their
writing works where their friends could see and give suggestions toward their writing directly. The students can access their own account and use the features
provided in Edmodo freely. Moreover, they could easily communicate with their teacher and friends by having a discussion in the timeline. They could share their
ideas through their writing works and they directly could give their opinion to each other.
Then, it was found that the use of Edmodo gave a positive impact on the students’ writing. Based on the second research question, the use of Edmodo
helped the students to develop their writing skills through writing descriptive text. Moreover, it also helped the students in correcting their writing skills included
their grammar accuracy and spelling. Using Edmodo encouraged the students’ self
expression and self confidence in writing descriptive text. Using Edmodo also encouraged the students to learn and practice writing because they could share to
each other about their writing works and giving suggestions to each other in order to have a good writing. Besides that, the teacher could also give the feedbacks
toward the students’ writing works and the students could revise their writing easily to make it better. According to the personal feelings, the students perceived
98 that they felt interested, happy, enjoy, motivated, and satisfied to use Edmodo in
writing descriptive text. In addition, the students also faced some problems based on the use of
Edmodo in writing descriptive text. The two major problems were related to the internet connection and also the students’ willingness to access Edmodo. Most of
the students had a bad connection to the internet. Then, the second problem was that the students’ willingness to access Edmodo was considered poor. They did
not access Edmodo more than 3 times a week and they rarely gave a suggestion to the other students’ works.
B. Recommendations
In this part, the researcher gives some recommendations which can be drawn from the findings. The recommendations are given to the students, English
teachers and future researchers. 1.
Recommendations for Students
The researcher has some recommendations for the students related to the use of Edmodo in writing descriptive text. Considering about the use of Edmodo
as a medium to develop the students ’ writing skills, the students should maximize
the use of Edmodo because there are a lot of benefits that can be obtained if they maximize to use it. By reading the previous writing and other students’ writing
works, the students can get inspirations and ideas to develop their writing. Besides that, they also should give suggestions on their friends’ works and vice versa
instead of giving comments to their friends’ works. It will be better if the students
99 are actively access the Edmodo and pay attention on the suggestions and the
feedbacks that they got from their friends and their teacher. Then, they revise their writing and publish it again in Edmodo so that they can have a better writing
work. 2.
Recommendations for Teachers
Considering that Edmodo is still new for the students, it is important to explain the function of Edmodo in learning English to the students at the
beginning. Then, it will be better if the procedure of the use of Edmodo is clearly explained. The teacher should deliver and explain the procedure of the use of
Edmodo in detail even not only once in the first meeting. The teacher should check and make sure that all the students are understand and there is no student
who is still confused related to the use of Edmodo in writing descriptive text. In order to improve the students’ writing skills, teacher should give feedbacks
toward the students’ writing and have a good communication through Edmodo. The researcher also recommends the teacher to access Edmodo actively so that the
teachers can always monitor their students’ interaction and progress.
3. Recommendations for Future Researchers.
Based on the findings in this research, there are some recommendations for the future researchers. Related to the topic of this research, there are still many
topics which can be developed and analyzed. Although this thesis is still far from perfect, it can be the basic for the next researchers. Due to this research only
focused on the perception stage, other researchers can conduct research on the learning, motivation, or behavioral stage. Other researchers can also conduct
100 research by multiplying the respondents’ number, revise the research instruments
and also focus on other contexts of text which are taught in junior high school such as narrative, recount, and procedure text.
