2. Whilst Activity

In whilst activity the characteristics of the implementation of Cooperative Laerning existed. The discussion below is the detailed explanation of the implementation of Cooperative Learning activities. Those were included in each point. The first point is lecturer’r role. The second point is students’ individual skill and the last point is students’ social and communication skill.

a. Lecturer’s Role

In this point, the lecturer focused more on giving clear instruction, giving what should be achieved and the examples of how to perform difficult tasks. 1 Giving clear instruction The lecturer of Extensive Reading II class explained clear instruction to the students such as how to do the task, what kind of reading passage should be read. In giving instruction, the lecturer used clear and understandable voice so the instruction can easily to understand. Lecturer also explained a scoring standard or grading that defines excellence. Scoring standard was presented so the students know what should be achieved. This is aimed to describe what learners will be able to do at the end of instruction, and they provide clear reasons for learning. 3 A role model of a reader The lecturer was a role model of a reader for the students in Extensive Reading II class. Lecturer gave much information that the lecturer shared and many references. By seeing the lecturer as the role model of a reader that has much information and references to share, students were expected to be motivated to be active readers and to develop their knowledge for all time as the lecturer did. 4 Present schedule or deadline of assignment to submit The lecturer presented the schedule to the students when they submit their work. The deadline is also important so the students can work effectively. 5 Present clear steps what students should do along the semester In Extensive Reading II class, The lecturer presented what the students should do. The feedback is aimed to improve students’ ability.
