HOW TO USE THIS BOOK
This book was developed as the complement for “Integrated English Materials for Automotive Engineering Grade X of SMK Marsudi Luhur 1
Yogyakarta – Student Book”. The Student’s Book contains of various tasks that will help the students to understand English language better and especially
practicing English for communication purpose. This learning materials are developed based on the competences required in SMK Marsudi Luhur 1
Yogyakarta. The Student Book is taught in four skills in integrated skills by using task based learning TBL.
This book is designed to help the teacher to implement the materials in the Student’s Book in the classroom. This book contains of short description of the
design materials, syllabus, lesson plans and answer key to every task. The teacher should be a master on student’s book in the classroom, and
then the writer advises the teacher who will apply the designed materials to read the manual book first before implementing the student’s book. The teacher is also
permitted to use other sources to complete the needs in the learning process.

Short Description of the Designed eaterials
All of the materials and teaching-learning activities in the designed materials are developed based on the principles of Task-Based Learning TBL.
Here are the phases in TBL that apply in the designed materials: A. Warming Up
Warming up is the Pre-task phase in TBL. This activity will activate students’ background knowledge on the topic. The purpose of this phase is to
introduce the main topic to what they are going to learn.
B. Let’s Do It
This section, the students prepare to do the main task. The tasks are mostly listening and reading. It aims to introduce the students to vocabulary, expressions
and language that will be useful for doing the main task. This section also gives students chances to prepare themselves before doing the main tasks by practicing
a dialogue.
C. Challenge For You
Challenge for you is the main task for the designed materials. The students should try to use the language to do the main task according to what they have
learnt from the previous tasks. The tasks are mostly focus on speaking and then the tasks are done in pairs or in a group. After they do the main task, the students
should report on what they have been done orally.
D. Language Focus
Language focus is the phase where teachers review on the language that mostly appears in the tasks. language focus section can be taken from the main
topic of the language learning or from the students’ mistake while doing the tasks.

In this phase, teacher has full authority to select the language form, which is going to be discussed.
E. Time to Share
Time to share is students’ reflection on the learning activities. Teacher can monitor students on how well they do the tasks, their feeling toward the activities,
and their progression. This reflection can be one of the tools for the teacher to evaluate the students.
