To analyze the data of the participants’ agreement toward the statements, central tendency was needed to measure the data. In this study, central tendency
was measured by mode. Mode is the value in a distribution that occurs most frequently Fraenkel Wallen, 2006, p. 196. Since the data obtained were
opinions on the designed materials, the writer used mode instead of mean. After central tendency was found of each statement, the data were
presented in Table 3.5.

In order to analyze the essay questions, the data were summarized into a list of points. The results of the post-design questionnaire were used as the
feedback to revise the designed materials.
F. Research Procedure
This section discussed the steps in conducting this study. The steps were described on the next page.

1. Research and Information Collecting
Before doing the research, the writer collected some supporting theories in this study. After that, the writer conducted the interview one English teacher in
SMK Marsudi Luhur 1 Yogyakarta in order to identify the problems. Besides, the writer also distributed pre-design questionnaires to the fifty of tenth grade
students of automotive engineering to gain information on the students’ characteristics.
2. Planning
According to the results of the pre-design questionnaire and information collecting, the writer selected the types of tasks, stated the objectives, and
determined the content sequencing of tasks in the designed materials.
3. Developing Preliminary Product
In this step, the designed materials were developed. It involved stating the strategies, developing of the product, and designing the message. The writer also
made a teacher’s book to help the user to implement the designed materials.
4. Conducting Preliminary Field Testing
After developing the designed materials, the writer evaluated the designed materials. The purpose of this step was to validate the designed materials and
obtain feedback and suggestion from the users and the experts. The participants of the preliminary field testing were two English teachers in SMK Marsudi Luhur 1
Yogyakarta and two English lecturers of English Language Education Study Program of Sanata Dharma University Yogyakarta. The results of the post-design
49 questionnaire would be the suggestion to revise the designed materials in order to
present the final version of the designed materials
5. Tain Product Revision
In this step, the designed materials were revised based on the results of the post-design questionnaires. The revised materials would be presented as the final
version of the designed materials. Furthermore, the final version of the designed materials would answer the research problems in Chapter I.
