because there is a movement done by a teacher and a chief of OSIS who want to go to the student’s classroom. The student should use preposition „into‟ to
describe that there is a motion or movement from a place to another place. The second preposition error is
„for‟. It has the same meaning as the last sentence. Both sentences do not use preposition that express direction or motion, but they
use preposition to express purpose. However, in using preposition „for‟, the
students still make a mistake. Preposition „for‟ should be followed by a noun and
it is used with ‘intended recipient’. The sentences below use the appropriate preposition.
1 After that, we visited souvenir seller.

c. Errors in Time Form
Time form was the third rank of preposition errors which was commonly made by tenth graders. The following table is the average of erroneous items of
time form in both topics of writing.

As many as 16,04 errors were found in using preposition in the form of time. The following are the examples of preposition errors in time form.

„in‟ is used with parts of the day, months, seasons, and years. „In‟ can also mean during a specified period of time or at the end of a certain
amount of time, counting from now. In contrast, preposition „at‟ describes a
specific time of a day or night. In four sentences above, the students choose the wrong preposition to express the time. First, second and third sentences should
use preposition „in‟ because those three sentences describe a certain period of time
first and third sentences, and a part of months second sentence. Forth sentence do not use any preposition.
In that sentence, the student use the word ‘time’ to express the certain time. Forth sentence should use preposition
„at‟ to describe a specific time of a day. Those errors happened because the students have lack of
knowledge in choosing the correct preposition in their sentences they made. The list below is the correct preposition for four sentences above.
