CHAPTER V CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

This chapter contains two sections namely conclusion and suggestions. The conclusion section deals with the conclusion of the study. Meanwhile, the suggestions talk about the suggestions for English teachers and for the tenth grade students.

A. Conclusion

The research was to design supplementary interactive speaking multimedia for the tenth grade students of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sedayu. In this research, the researcher formulated the problem. The problem was “What is the design of interactive speaking multimedia for the tenth grade students of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sedayu? The background of the research was because the tenth grade students of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sedayu faced English classroom problems concerning to speaking skill. Those problems were textbook oriented, most of students are afraid of speaking English, boredom, the limitation of mastering vocabulary, lack of motivation to learn English, and lack of grammar understanding. Knowing the students’ characteristics, the researcher offered an interesting interactive speaking multimedia using video as a way to solve those classroom problems. Video was chosen since the using of video in classroom gave many advantages for students. 78 Evaluation was also conducted in this research by distributing questionnaire to the experts. The suggestions from experts were used to revise the interactive multimedia. The final version of the interactive speaking multimedia was acceptable and appropriate for the tenth grade students of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sedayu. The researcher presents the final version of supplementary interactive speaking multimedia for the tenth grade students of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sedayu. The designed interactive speaking multimedia contains four units. Those units are presented as follows: Unit 1 : Introducing yourself and others Unit 2 : Past experiences Unit 3 : Making an appointment Unit 4 : Making an invitation Each unit is divided into three parts, namely Lead in Activity, Language Focus , and Communicative Task. Lead in activity contains activities which recall their background knowledge by conducting activities which built memories that relevant to the topic that would be taught. Language Focus contains activities which provide information on how to use expression properly and in context. The students were also taught how to pronounce the sentences correctly. And Communicative Task contains activities which encourage students to practice speaking English. 79

B. Suggestions
