BAB III

METODE PENELITIAN

3.1 Tempat dan Waktu Penelitian

Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Mei 2015 sampai dengan bulan

September 2015. Kegiatan penelitian ini mencakup perancangan dan

pembuatan alat, pengujian sampai dengan pengambilan dan pengolahan data.

Lokasi pembuatan alat bertempat di Bengkel Las Rudi Karya Jalan Pasar

Baru No. 34 Padang Bulan Medan, Sumatera Utara dan Lokasi pengujian alat

bertempat di Balai Riset dan Standarisasi Industri Medan yaitu di Jalan

Sisingamangaraja No. 24 Medan, Sumatera Utara.

3.2 Alat dan Bahan yang Digunakan

3.2.1 Alat

Adapun alat-alat yang digunakan dalam rancang bangun alat

pengering bahan pertanian sistem pompa kalor dengan APK ini terbagi

menjadi 3 bagian yaitu:

sistem pompa kalor dengan APK adalah sebagai berikut:

Air conditioner (AC) digunakan sebagai pompa kalor yang

dirancang untuk mengeringkan bahan pertanian. Dimana AC yang

digunakan bermerek Polytron tipe PA-1105 dengan spesifikasi

Alat Penukar Kalor Tipe Flat Plate

Alat penukar kalor tipe flat plate ini digunakan untuk

menaikkan temperatur udara yang berasal dari evaporator menuju

kondensor dengan cara memanfaatkan udara panas buangan yang

berasal dari ruang pengering. Di dalam alat penukar kalor ini

terjadi perpindahan panas secara konveksi-konduksi melalui

plat-plat yang tersusun di dalam alat penukar kalor. Yang mana

nantinya udara yang berasal dari evaporator akan diteruskan ke

kondensor sedangkan udara yang berasal dari ruang pengering

akan dibuang ke lingkungan sekitar.

daya 30 watt, tegangan 220V~50Hz serta memiliki berat

1,4kg.

Kontrol panel terdiri dari sekumpulan alat kontrol yang

Alat pendukung dan alat ukur

Adapun alat pendukung dan alat ukur yang digunakan

dalam pengujian alat pengering bahan pertanian system pompa kalor

dengan APK adalah:

Laptop digunakan untuk menyimpan dan mengolah data

yang telah diperoleh dari Agilent dan Rh (Relative Humidity)

meter.

Timbangan Digital

Timbangan digital digunakan untuk megukur berat produk

yang dikeringkan secara berkala yaitu setiap satu jam sekali. Alat

ini digunakan selama pengeringan berlangsung tujuannya untuk

menngetahui pengurangan berat produk selama proses

pengeringan. Jenis timbangan digital yang digunakan adalah

timbangan duduk digital.
