3. Description of Objectives Aspect

The general objectives in Workbook 1 were not fulfilled because there was no listening skill covered in the book and it lacked spoken activity and also the relation between language and culture. The objectives written in Workbook 1 were clear, suitable, and measurable for seventh graders. The materials and exercises were made based on Competence Standard and Basic Competence in Kurikulum KTSP. The expectations for students to master the lessons were clear and measurable because they were made simple and understandable. In Workbook 2, the general objectives were not fulfilled either because it lacked the listening skill. It relied on the teacher’s voice without any recording provided Figure 4.22. For Workbook 3, the general objectives were fulfilled because the book covers four skills, though the material for listening skill was minimalist. It had balance spoken and written activities and also the relation between language and culture. Over all, the objectives written on the book were suitable the level of seventh graders, clear, and measurable. The materials and exercises made based on Competence Standard and Basic Competence in Kurikulum KTSP. The expectations for students to master the lesson were clear and measurable because they were made simple and understandable.

4. Description of Topic Contents Aspect

All criteria in the Topic Contents Aspect for Workbook 1 were fulfilled. Workbook 1 had various kinds of topics; these provided activities for students with different interest and personalities. The main topics were divided into spoken activity and written activity. Spoken activity could be met in topic 1 and topic 2 which were Transactional and Interpersonal. These two topics focus on expressions used in dialogues, such as greetings, leave taking, introducing, giving instructions or PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI 65 prohibition, asking and giving information, asking and giving time, asking and telling jobs, thanking and apologising, and making request. While, the other two topics concerned Short Functional Text, such as instruction, letter, memo or note, shopping list, greeting cards, announcement and advertisement, congratulating and complimenting. The book also avoided potentially embarrassing or disturbing topics because the topics were very general topics. The exercises in each topic allowed students to develop their view and also think critically Figure 4.23 because the exercises were designed for students to express their opinions. It had various kinds of topic; these provided activities for students who had different interest and personalities because both spoken activity and written activity could be found. Each topic provided exercises for students to develop their views freely. Besides, the book avoided potentially embarrassing or disturbing topics because the topics were very general topics. Besides, Workbook 3 avoided potentially embarrassing or disturbing topics because the topics were very general topics. The exercise provided many nouns in plural form and then, the students were asked to make a conclusion after analysing the plural form nouns.
