Related to the sample above, the students put the preposition “for” and verb+ing in the wrong order. “For” is always followed by a
noun and “to” always followed by a verb. Because of the action of the sentence refers to one particular action. It means that it must use to
infinitive. Besides, the “ing” of the verb “buy” must be eliminated. I
think the students produced this error because they are confused of the use of preposition
“for” and to infinitive.
4.2.5. Kinds of Errors in Using Gerund after Possesive
Gerund can be preceded by possessive adjective or noun in the possessive case such as my, his, her, and B
udi’s. Gerunds after possessive adjective refer to the person denoted by the possessive adjective or pronoun. There are 149 errors
in using gerund after possesive made by the students. The errors consist of omission error, additional error, misinformation errror, and misordering error.
1. Omission error
Omission is an error of leaving out an item that is required for an utterance to
be considered grammatical. There are 47 errors of omitting items in gerund after possesive found in data.

Related to the samples above, the student produced error because they
omitted the suffix “ing” that must appear in the verb after possesive. According to Thomson and Martinet 1969:164 in formal English the
possesive adjective is used with the gerund, but in spoken or less formal English, it is very comman to use the accusative personal pronoun. This
error might occur because of the inability of the students using gerund after possesive.
2. Addition Error
Addition error is the presence of an item which must not appear in a well- formed utterance. There are 31 addition error of gerund after possesive made
by the students. a.
